so if you are located 10 miles from the center of these dots (which have a radius larger than 10 miles) in some unknown number of years you can maybe get packages in 30 minutes if what you are purchasing doesn't have to be transferred from another distribution center or vendor! Amazing!

Stepping onto someone's property or opening their mailbox is somehow more difficult (and a bigger deterrent) than opening fire on an drone as it randomly passes overhead??

GPS + cameras make it a very high likelihood of behind caught by authorities and the legal & financial repercussions would be much greater than simple theft.

I wonder what kind of firepower it would take to shoot one down? No clue how big these things are (I haven't watched the video yet)... also could be armored. If you can't shoot it down with standard calibers that would make it much less likely.

Also wondering what the lift capability is--seems like there would be many not-too-difficult ways to snare one of these things with a sufficiently weighted restraint.

Plus the liability issues, when one flies through somebody's window, drops a heavy box on someone's head, etc.etc. I just don't see it being feasible.

^^there was a piece on this on 60 minutes (or some similar show... i don't usually watch these) and Jeff Bezos said the hardest part of development would be redundant systems to prevent packages being dropped on people and/or helicopter blades slashing through property/people, etc.

I doubt that anyone at amazon seriously considers this as anything other than science fiction.

These things are gonna be plastic, at best thin aluminum.

However there are 8 propellers with independent motors. I think shooting them down would be difficult, and if you did you would destroy the package.

GPS and camera don't do any good when the circuitboards controlling them are destroyed by small arms fire as the craft hits the ground. Likewise, I expect people will be figuring out ways to hack them. This will never fly (YSWIDT?)
