I've seen them marketed towards programmers and other people whose jobs involve staring at a primarily text only screen for a majority of the day - a friend of mine has them and uses them at work. At home they're less relevant as he has a 3 monitor set up and there's lots of color and eye movement instead of just staring at a simple thing, but for work and homework they're apparently pretty good. They take a while to get used to, but it's better than staring at a screen without them, especially if you don't take the recommended brief breaks every 30-45 minutes

I have a pair of gunnar optics and they're great for eye fatigue when staring at computer text all day. I break them out when I know I'm going to be doing a lot of programming. for gaming they're completely a marketing tool

I started wearing sunglasses at work. Dual monitor setup + all this aritifical light kills my eyes after a 10 hour shift. My eyes, hell my whole body, feels much better when I go home since I started doing this. I'm sure a lot of people think I'm crazy because I wear sunglasses inside, but it helps a lot. No more eye strain.

these are very different from the yellow gun glasses. the guys from oakley started the brand around real optical science. they prefocus the image onto your eye so you dont have to do as much work
