Ate there the other night for the first time in a while. Pizza is still pretty good but I was reminded that the back of the restaurant always smells like sewage. What is up with that? 1/18/2014 4:39:11 PM

backs of restaurants is where all their trash goes. Why would you not expect it to smell like shit? I've worked in multiple restaurants and the backs of them all smell like shit because thats where all their trash/waste is. 1/18/2014 4:55:51 PM

Way overrated.
I despise restaurants with poor bathroom placement too. They should all burn down (due to natural causes, not arson). 1/18/2014 5:36:17 PM

They totally had the same vibe. Now you have the same room to get hated on with sub-par pizza. The rest of the space is taken up by Broughton kids who can't wait to go to UNC or Duke.
Might as well be a wall.

It's worse than both Sylvia's was and Amore's (don't know if that's still there now or not) but more popular than both. That's why I don't like it. 1/18/2014 9:12:30 PM

none of these places even touch Ruckus. They're all greasy as fuck. At least Two Guys have crust that doesn't droop down. Amore's would be better if they had more business - the problem is their pies sit out forever. Sylvia's was the best all around and the old man was awesome - sorry to see that place go. NY Pizza is the absolute worst of the bunch. 1/19/2014 10:12:39 AM

I used to go to NYP for lunch....I work on campus. Their $5 cheese special is a good deal. Recently I've been going to Two Guys, they have $1 cheese slices that aren't bad. Hard to beat a cheap lunch. 1/19/2014 12:05:12 PM

Sylvia's was by far the best of the three, and he was a super nice guy. Sad day when he closed up shop.
The only reason I'd ever go to I <3 NY was for their white pizza. That was the one thing Sylvia's wasn't as good at...it's supposed to have ricotta on it, at least the way I'm used to seeing it. 1/19/2014 12:06:07 PM

every time I went to Sylvia's the crust was like eating a tire. the old man was nice, but i didn't much care for the pizza. agreed NY used to be way better (relatively speaking), but the $5 deal is still quite good. I, too, was irate when it went from 4.00 to 4.25. went back after a football game 2 years ago to find it at $5. still as greasy and cheesy as I remember 1/19/2014 12:43:47 PM

Agreed. I think people are confusing a friendly old man for outstanding pizza. I'm not saying it wasn't good, but it wasn't better than Amores and NYP. 1/19/2014 1:26:17 PM

I've always liked I Heart NY Pizza. I started at State in 2009 and its always been my favorite pizza place on Hillsborough. Two Guys was nice my 1st two years until they changed their pizza and switched it to a place like NY Pizza, but way shittier. 1/27/2014 11:47:26 PM

I went to Sylvia's once right before school started in Fall 2010, then they went out of business. I dont remember how great/awful it was.
I've been to I heart more times than my body would probably prefer, but for $5 you can't beat it.
I wasn't too impressed with Two Guys. I went there right after they opened in their current format, and thought it tasted about like I heart. I liked it when it was a sitdown restaurant better. 1/28/2014 12:20:55 AM

...Sylvia's was "eh", but I agree the dude was nice. NYP was more or less a weekly staple, and pretty fun to go once they expanded and got the TV's.
Anyone remember the old 2 piece cheese combo with drink? Wasn't it like $3.xx or something? 1/28/2014 7:50:53 AM

I ate at Sylvia's every week, and I preferred the crisper crust to the NY style. Owner was extremely awesome and would either remember you or really convincing at pretending to remember you. He was super nice to everyone except people who parked in his lot without eating there, he called the tow trucks in about two seconds. I witnessed many an argument between him and someone who got towed.
Amore's had the second best pizza, and it had a nicer atmosphere plus it served beer, and there was gellato right next door iirc. I didn't go there that much though because it was on the other side of campus to where I usually was at lunchtime. 1/28/2014 10:23:06 AM

I was always a fan of I Heart NY Pizza...I ate it every day. The slices were big and thick and tasty, and full meals in themselves. Maybe Sylvia's or other pizza places were better (I dunno; I seldom got pizza anywhere else), but regardless, I found I Heart NY Pizza to be reliably yummy and satisfying. 1/28/2014 3:55:09 PM
