Dad got me a couple of shirts for Christmas that I want to return. I'd prefer to NOT ask him where he got them from so he doesn't know that I'm returning them. I've already tried Kohl's, Sears, Macys, and JcPenneys, and it's not from any of those places. If you know where it came from, can you tell me so I can get some store credit and buy something I'd like? Thanks!

Where does your dad live and what town/city does he shop in?

My Mom got me the same brand shirt for christmas and I was able to return them to Belk. Although without the receipt you get a store credit for the lowest price that they have sold at in the last 1000 years...

JT3, that's a good idea. I tried Shopsavy and RedLaser, but neither app recognized the barcode.

Mikey, my dad's in Raleigh. I'm in Pittsburgh at this point. That's why I figured I'd post here - might be a Raleigh chain that we don't have here. None of those places I went to would take it back without it being in their system. Maybe I'll have to try Belk next time I'm in Raleigh.

Could have come from a Van Heusen outlet store, too.

how much does this shirt cost? $40? How much time have you already spent taking it to 4 different stores? do you really need $40 in store credit somewhere that badly?

just keep the damn shirt and treat yo self to a new shirt.

Looks like a Marshalls/TJ Maxx/Steinmart type tag.

Yeah, it's definitely an "outlet/discount" style tag, especially for that brand.

You could also just take 'em to Nordstrom.

I'd cut your losses and give them to someone who can use them or donate to a thrift store and take the tax deduction. By the time you find a store that will take them for the $22 store credit or whatever you'll end up averaging less than $3 credit per store you visited without accounting for your gas expenditures.

I always feel bad when people get me gifts that I have no use/want for. I can't imagine how much money is put into the hands of big corporations and overseas manufacturing every Christmas in exchange for cheap junk that nobody really wants just because people feel obligated to buy something for one another.
