A couple of years ago, they didn't shut down businesses or the govt. on time before a big snow storm hit. Tons of people ended up stuck in traffic trying to get home. Some overnight.... Some only for hours. Tons of accidents.

Anyway, there was hell to pay later. The govt. was chastised for not closing and letting people go home. Businesses got the sour end of the stick as well. Anyway, now everyone is so gun shy that if there is going to be snow, everyone is either let go far ahead of time, or stuff just gets cancelled.

^ It may have overheated. A friend of mine overheated her car from revving the engine too hard/much while trying to get un-stuck.

I'm not sure I understand your question. I don't live in RDU. I was talking about what happened up here in DC a couple of years ago.

only one class on Wednesday, got out at 10.

went to Food Lion for my bread and milk around 12:30. wasn't snowing when we went in, lot was completely covered by the time we got out. Took 45 minutes to get from the Food Lion on Western back to my apartment, which is near where Western and Hillsborough merge. We made the mistake of taking Hillsborough, thinking it would be better.

I got to work today, only for my boss to tell us to close down within an hour of getting there. Tonight, after roads are definitely worse than they were when we closed, he tells me to come in at 7, 2 hour earlier than scheduled.

yo tell us about the hydrant hit

a long time ago my friend hit one and when he told me I was like "Did water shoot everywhere and fill your car like in superman?" when he told me that nothing happened and the thing just broke and fell over I was like "Well, that's disappointing". He said "That's exactly what the policeman said". Haha

She hit it (that's what she said).

Water was spewing everywhere.

She backed off of the hydrant.

Looked like snow (of course it was water though) was in a blender that was shooting 60ft up in the air.

This was at the Shell gas station right as you get in Garner (sign says 'Welcome to Garner') off of 70 coming from 40.

I saw a minivan hit a power pole this afternoon. I was sitting at a stoplight making sure I had my 4wd High on and all the sudden all of the stop lights and lines started shaking violently. I was all, "WTF!"...then I noticed the minivan off of the road up against the pole. The best part was that the bastard put it in reverse, straightened it out and kept on truckin.

Took me over 2 hours to go 3.8 miles. Some nice lads pushed my car up the Lake Wheeler/I40 overpass. Should not have put the Cherokee in the shop the other day

Left RTP yesterday minutes before snow started, 4 hours to get to Fuquay. I'm estimating 50% of the bad traffic was caused by lack of consideration, assholes. There are not 8 exit lanes at the end of 540.

Positive note- a manual tdi jetta has no problems with icy hills.

I guess that makes more sense now. The triangle had a light dusting that shut the world down back in 2005, I thought you were referring to that incident. It would appear that triangle businesses/people learned nothing or forgot because now they are going through the exact same thing.

4 hours from RTP to Edwards Mill and Duraleigh. Although over an hour of that was getting from my office to 40 which normally takes 1 minute. Front wheel drive ftw. Got stuck behind a Maserati and a BMW on Edwards Mill until they slid to the side while redlining.

I made it home this morning and back to work tonight. I actually got stuck in my neighborhood as it was just a block of ice. Once I stopped, I couldn't get it back moving until it started melting and I had some nice neighbors help.
