I mean once we get the perk for getting the clan to level 5, you donate level 5 wizards and they become level 6 wizards. All troops donated are one level higher.

so the first 2 sneak previews of the new update are the ability to change your name (presumably only once) and "bookmarks" where you can have quick access to up to 30 other clans, ie feeder clans, clans your friends are in, etc

wonder what the biggest update will be. new troop? new troop level? new upgrade level? new trap or building?

I'm having a lot of trouble getting to Champion league. I feel like the wall threshold has climbed so much that you almost need all blacks and mostly greys to get up there naturally now. I'm sure if I gem all my rax and sit there and play for a solid 8 hours I could get up there but when you're in high masters you almost have to have a full lavaloonion or gowipe to make sure you don't miss. if you miss, it sets you back several raids worth of trophies.

The win bonus isn't worth it. I'm masters 3-2 right now. My problem is I upgraded to townhall lvl 10 too fast, the loot bonus would have been way better at TH9

There is a max of 1 regardless of what town hall. Also they only face one direction but it looks like they cover a good 100 degrees or so

Looks like the range is farther than the ground X-bow.

I'm trying to add it to my base layout without making a mess... I want its activation range to be just before units get to anti-air, and the push back to be still within anti-air range.

I'm going with anti-air mines on one side of my base, with this thing on the other to balance it out.

One thing to keep in mind is the size of the new building is 2x2. The same as builders huts, teslas, giant bombs, etc. Not 3x3 like the majority of buildings. So it should at least be easier to incorporate into an existing base than a large footprint building.

Red Terrors are in War Preparation day so I went ahead and started construction and added it to my base. Just swapped it out for one of the giant bombs in my core. Simple quick fix.

I'll be interested to see how it changes the game. There were already more ground defenses than air (mortars + cannons > air defenses), so it kind of makes sense from a balancing standpoint. And Lavaloon seemed kind of OP. Wonder what it will do to TH7 dragon attacks though, for example.

I think its going to make a huge difference for all air attacks. It can dictate which side the enemy has to attack from.

And because of that, you can load up the side you "know" they are going to attack from with air bombs and skeletons and stuff.

It also has low hit points though (not sure hit points at level 6/max), so combination attacks will still work. ie using hogs or heroes or kill squad to take out an air defense and the air sweeper. then lavaloon as normal.

Anybody checked out DomiNations? A coworker got me into this last week. Basically its like CoC with historical units and buildings. Pretty sweet game. I am researching Classical Era now. Been enjoying this game and honestly more interested in it than CoC. Clash of Clans gets rather repetitive in my opinion.

I played dominations for a about a week. It was not different enough from COC to warrant playing in my opinion. I already have two COC bases the maintain.

^^CoC can definitely get repetitive, and the upgrade times only get longer. But the new troops and defenses and new levels of troops add a lot.

Yeah. i'm stoked about reaching TH9.. lots of new goodies to upgrade..

They could add a "ghost" DE unit. Perhaps a ghoul (flying unit), that has low health, medium attack, is invisible to air defenses until it appears to attack? Something like that... Just something I came up with. But there's a slew of possibilities... A de unit like a hound dog that prioritizes attacking CC armies first? I don't know. We can have some creative ideas!

Boom Beach did a good job improving with the "strategy" aspect of attacking, gunboat energy and abilities (flares mainly) make the attacks way more interactive and strategic, makes it less stale.

I wish Clash would implement a "vault" or something because it is way too hard to stockpile resources.

I wouldn't agree with you completely. I suppose it depends on your building levels and stuff, but at being a near maxed TH8, I rarely get attacked successfully. You just gotta have a good base setup... I'm a TH8, I've been sitting at near max DE and Elixer for almost 2 months now. I've finally gotten my gold up to max, but I typically have had it near 0 as I've been upgrading walls. Since I started my upgrade to TH9, I've been holding it to max.

As I see the opportunity/need to attack, I upgrade a few walls so I can collect Gold on my attacks. If I'm going to be out of shield within an hour or I can get on right when my shield goes away, I make an attack. Might as well... My Clan Castle is half full on Gold an Elixer, but it's DE is empty (I had to collect to make room for the war we are about to win). 17/20 attacks against me in Crystal III are TH snipes, of those 2 were failed attacks where they went all out and got <40k/40k/300 loot. 3 were successful attacks, taking about 200k/250k/2k loot. But this is over the course of a week.

Even if someone attacks me for my loot, I can usually get it back in 2 or 3 consecutive attacks before I get TH sniped back into a shield for 12 hours. Most of the time, they only get about half, so I only need 1 really good attack to get back what i lost.



The key is planning when you attack, I only attack like twice or 4 times a day. I have a huge army already queued up to help protect elixer (not that i need to) and so that the longest training units are already done (pekka and golem).

Spells are 2 Rage, 1 Heal.

Typical army composition:

3 Wizard
2 Wall breakers
1 Archer
1 Barbarian

3 Wizard

1 Archer
1 Barbarian

As soon as i attack someone, the golem and pekkas are finished, so I just need to wait for the rest of the queue (3 wizards, 2 wall breakers, 1 archer, and 1 barbarian) to finish training. It's not bad... But if I'm on a time crunch, I change it out to a 8 wall breaker, 92 Barbarians, 92 Archer raiding party. Hit next till you find what you are looking for... I haven't had problems and I've been using this technique for a couple months now...

Here's a pic of my base without the clutter. Makes it intimidating to hog... Intimidating to attack without knowing where the big bombs and teslas may be. I've successfully stopped the 2 hog runs that have been done against me. Having a good CC composition helps too. But since there are no replays and you only have like 15 seconds to scope the base out, I admit, it looks intimidating, and perhaps that's why I can keep my loot, except against high level TH9 and TH10s. Those are the only ones who dare to go all out on me, and they win.



In hog attacks, If they avoid big bombs to the bottom, they will hit all the spring traps up at the top. That's 18 hogs learning to fly. And they tend to funnel through the openings vs jumping the wall. It works. If I had to hog my base, I'd hit next.

If you let your townhall get sniped thats true.

My mistake was upgrading to TH10 too quickly.

If I expose the Townhall I can still get 100% by maxed out armies, so I might as well hold onto the 100k loot bonus and my trophies.

What league are you in? I usually lose around 6 trophies on a TH snipe. winning 1 attack recoups that loss. I don't have trouble staying in my league and holding onto my loot. THis may be a different story if i'm going any higher than Crystal III.

I maxed every town hall except for the jump from TH8 to TH9. I heard a lot of comments that I would regret it, but I can easily say that I'm very glad I made the decision. The addition of the Archer Queen, 20 extra army camp spots, and two relatively cheap X-bows made me happy with the decision. I typically farm with Barch or Barchlin armies and abuse the "NEXT" button, so the increased cost of battles and reduced loot from lower town halls has not been noticeable.

regarding the "Vault" to protect resources, you can fill up your army camps with troops and then queue up your barracks to protect elixir and DE. 150 queued level 5 wallbreakers will make 450k of elixir untouchable by attacking armies, and 17 queued level two valkyries will store 1700 dark elixir. Just be sure to cancel them as soon as you start playing again; nothing looks dumber than an army of 150 wallbreakers.

I think you should get a lot of the research and defenses maxed up before you jump. Walls, some research like Goblins, Minions, Valk, small bombs can be "neglected" for later. Maxing out not necessary, but there's still a good bit you should probably do before moving on.

Im getting reemed in wars by TH9s. TH8s know it I guess, because only high ranking (like 10-20 where I'm ranked around 25-28 in most wars) TH9's have been attacking me and they are doing way overkill stuff. I never really get to see my base defend against a TH8

Thats a good point. Previously I got so desperate as to start 2 low level gold upgrades, then cancel them at a penalty a week later and make one high level upgrade. I honestly haven't invested much into dark elixer, I got the lvl 5 heroes and stopped.

I used to stay up later than I normally would just to try and get in an extra raid or two to start an upgrade so I didn't have big resources before I went to bed. But if you have like 4 million gold and 4 million elixir and somebody obliterates your base while you're sleeping, you're still gonna wake up with 3.5m+ of each plus whatever you get in your collectors.

I think a good spot for keeping your loot is right around 1900-2000 trophies. Keep your TH in the corner and there will be lots of TH6-TH8 looking to get the gem bonus from Crystal III who will just snipe you and give you shields.

the in between upgrades for heros is time consuming, and you don't notice much of a benefit other than the heal time taking annoying longer. But when you get to the next level in skill, it's noticeable. Don't skimp out on the heros. You really have to grind them, but they are worth it.

Also, you'll notice the biggest hit of losing loot at around (for TH8) 2.2Million (300k can be lost knocking you down to 1.9M) If you have more than 2.2M in loot, the max you can lose from storage units is still 300k of that type. Losing 300k from 2.2M hurts a lot because it's about 15% of your loot. I never really minded when I lost 300k from 4M or 5M, because the overall impact appears less, but I'd be upset if I had lost 300k after just breaking 2M. Losing 300k from my 6M stored now is only 5% of my stash looted and doesn't bother me one bit really. It's psychological.


I really hate how Boom Beach is an all or nothing. I wish they didn't "Vault" the loot all in the HQ (all or nothing), but I understand why they did it with all the bombardment abilities from the ship.

Level 5 clan donation bonus is sweet. Level 3 drags become max drags, Level 5 wiz become max, Level 6 barbs, archers, giants become max, etc. No such thing as donating a level 1 witch anymore

Right now it is just way too hard to guard against higher levels 50%ing my base.

I can't get past Master III no matter what I do. 2700 trophies give or take 50. Even if I did get promoted the lootbonus is 20k aka nothing.

If I had the patience, I would have built zero extra builders huts and only one of each barracks. Would have taken forever to build armies but it would mean less buildings to defend.

ALso means that every building they destroy, the higher the % destroyed on your base. Also means less targets to distract enemies as your towers engage them. Seems like pros at first, but eventually, you'll suffer. I thought about making a base with just 1 of each collector. but i ultimately, it's better to just have everything.

True, but only for dragon attacks in clan wars. I mainly deal with 200+ Lvl 7 archer/barbarians surrounding my base to raid, then they see they have 40% so they use heroes to get the 1 star victory.

My base layout is protecting resources and trophies at the moment so it is difficult to worry about the other buildings on the outside.

I'm stuck at Master I but I don't really raid anymore. So far 3035 is the most trophies I've gotten but I hover between 2970-3020 or so naturally. I need to boost the barracks and just push up to 3200 to get those 2000 free gems.

I have all skull walls, black towers xbows and cannons, max wiz, level 2 infernos, 2nd highest air d, max clan castle, max collectors and storage. level 10 king; 11 queen.

walls and heroes really make a huge difference at TH10.

Ever since our clan got to Level 5, we've only been matched up with other Level 5 clans from Korea and we've been getting whooped. One clan they either 3 starred or 2 starred all but one of our TH10s. Using a bunch of advanced stuff like LoGoWiPe or GoLavaLoon. And they had a lot of rushed TH9s without great defenses or walls or troops, but they did have all maxed loons, hounds, golems etc for those specific attacks.

haven't seen that yet. I just watched some YT videos - may have to try that out. they make it looks so easy but I swear my balloons just go everywhere or just hit a cluster of air bombs.

Slowly pushing through Masters, sitting at 2657 at the moment. My town hall is unprotected though, but so far everyone has just sniped me, nobody has gone for any loot other than the collectors closest to TH and nobody has done an "all out attack". My TH isn't booby trapped either, since some people will try to just snipe you and end the battle, but if teslas pop up, they might get mad and 2-3 star you. I also started this push right after a minion upgrade in the lab, so my dark wasn't high, and I usually upgrade a wall each time I get to 1 million of either resource, or maybe save to like 1.5m for an air bomb upgrade or something. So I'm not overflowing with loot either.

I pretty much attack and 3-star any TH8 I see, but mainly end up attacking TH9 with either a hero upgrading or some tombstones to minimize chance that all the traps are armed and that they have a full clan castle. I'll attack a TH10 if it looks poorly designed and doesn't have infernos. And since some of the people sniping me are in Champions or Masters 1, I often only lose 1-2 trophies from a TH snipe. Whereas when I 2-3 star a base during my attack, I get a good 8-20 trophies so it's a steady increase.

With 220 camp spots, my current raiding army has been:

16 Giants (6)
8 Wallbreakers (5)
29 Archers (6)
28 Barbarians (6)
3 Wizards (5)
4 Balloons (6)
5 Minions (4)
1 PEKKA (3)
1 Rage (5)
3 Heal (5)
Anything in CC

Works pretty well. Heal mainly for the giants though use on queen if necessary. Try and time Rage so it's when giants and attack force are entering core, then deploy balloons so that they go into the spell. PEKKA to help take down enemy king and/or queen, and with only 1 PEKKA I'm basically only sacrificing a dozen archers and a dozen barbs. Can't raid every 30 minutes with that army, and in Masters and higher you usually want a full spell factory, but the loot bonus is great. A normal base with 60k gold, 110k elixir, 500 dark, for example, gives you 160k, 210k, 1k with the league bonus.
