Brilliant move by Gott to keep an ace up his sleeve as a secret weapon.

I have a feeling we will need Kyle to make a solid contribution on Friday against Harrell. I see Anya and Abu possibly getting into foul trouble as I think Pitino will try focus on getting points in the paint early. Hope he brings his energy and plays smart.

IF he were considering transferring, he'd have to factor in the fact that he'd sit out and not play next year. IMO he has embraced his recent off-the-bench role and is truly a team player. I wouldn't be shocked if he wanted to transfer, but I think it's quite unlikely. This team seems to have chemistry. A lot of the CoachGott.com and ACC Digital Network behind-the-scenes stuff just seems like all these guys love each other.

Great contribution tonight, just sorry Gott didn't let you play more. Over a point a minute. Would have been nice to see him down the stretch.

He's certainly the most obvious choice of a guy to transfer. And I don't blame players for transferring. You only got a few years of college, make the most of it.

But if he commits himself to get stronger and improving defensively the he has potential to be really good. His ability to score and stretch the floor is impressive. It's not like Anya or Freeman are so much better than him that he is just buried behind them on the bench forever. But his game has obvious flaws that need work. In other words, he may not need to transfer into a better situation for him to make the most of his time. If he can make the right improvement and adjustments to his game, then he can be a huge contributor here.

^^He played great if you only watched him on offense. He was awful on defense. His guy consistently got great post-up position next to the basket. He'd essentially given up the basket before his man even got the ball.

He definitely has the skill to help, but he's got to get stronger and more fundamentally sound on defense.

When you go 4/5 from the field and 3/4 from the line for 11 points in NINE MINUTES and your team only scores 65 overall, it's not your fault

I didn't say it was his fault. He scored points, and we needed points. That doesn't take away from the fact he was bad on defense. Like, really bad.

I was just posting in general. But TONIGHT, I think the points were important. He got us back in the game in the 1st half which eventually led to a Pack lead at halftime. He's got his role but he wasn't giving up the Rozier stuff late in the game.

He weighs 180lbs. Most guys on TWW could push him around too. You gotta have Tyler Lweis expectations of defense when it comes to Washington.

I agree with the past few posts. KW was a huge factor in the first half. He's the only dude who could make a shot

yes he had 2 first half fouls, but it seems Gott forgot about him after halftime

played 24 total minutes in the NCAA-T

A big man who is a threat to create his own shot without being a defensive liability would be a huge help on the team next year. Hope KW can become that.

He needs to bulk up a little bit during the offseason. He's not that thin...but could still use a little weight so he doesn't get pushed around as much.

it's all lower body. deandre daniels won a title at the 4 despite being anorexic because he could hold his position. kyle needs major weight training. and it's not like the rest of our team looks like unc's guys. our strength coach is good. dude needs to put in the work.

^Bingo. Washington's upper body isn't the problem. His lower body is what needs some serious work. Guy needs to squat like a madman this summer.

He was no worse than Freeman or Anya back there. And honestly, the scheme was the biggest problem. We weren't even trying to prevent dribble penetration or deny the entry pass to their bigs. We should've switched to a tight zone as soon as it became apparent that they were looking to force it inside, but Gott isn't a good game coach.

Can't blame Washington for giving up a couple baskets in his 9 minutes. He was brilliant on offense and we needed him out there.

Yeah, but I was surprised that Anya and NardDog got pushed around like that. They have been an absolute defensive force throughout the second half of our season, including games where they shut down the bigs of UNC and Duke. So, I think that it was a reasonable call to expect them to hold their own.

I would've liked to see more of him this game. Normally Freeman, Abu, Anya are our best options in terms of defense & rebounding with the guards doing most of the scoring, but we absolutely couldn't contain Harrell in this game. Getting more minutes & offense out of Washington would've been a plus IMO when you look at it in hindsight.

This, plus he needs to develop a right hand. All of his post moves around the basket are made so much tougher when he can only finish with his left regardless of which side of the basket he's on.

Is he on track to graduate in 3 years? If so I would think he'd stay and play and then still be able to transfer and play immediately. So playing time would have to be better than none if that's the case.

i've posted this before, but i'll say it again.

imo, the ball is in washington's court as to whether or not he has a significant role for state in the future (he may have already transferred or whatever who knows). he can score and has consistently shown that ability. everybody could use a scoring big man. if he worked to get stronger, more physical down low and improve defensively then he'd be a huge asset to any team. let's face it, he's not buried on the bench behind a star studded cast of big men. there's no reason he can't beat out freeman or anya. if he made the adjustments to his game, he'd be a damn good player. and i don't mean that come off like i'm questioning his toughness or commitment to getting better. but it seems kinda obvious to me that nc state's team in 2015-16 could really use a scoring big man who isn't a defensive liability. there's a hole on our roster for a guy like him.

i, of course, wish him the best of luck no matter what he does or where he goes. college, after all, is a short time period, so you gotta get the most out of it while you can.

i've always thought that the "toughness" or "heart" of a player i see play a sport for a couple of hours each week for a few months is kinda something that i'm unable to judge...i'll leave that to his teammates and coaches and people who actually see him practice and workout and stuff. but that's just me.

Can't blame him for getting sick of Gott's doghouse. Sure he was a bad defender and he never saw a shot he didn't like, but he brought great energy and scoring instincts. Tremendous touch when he was on. Dude was a beast in the Tourney and I really think we would've beaten Louisville if he had played the 2nd half. Fucking Gottfried.

I hope he tears it up wherever he goes.

Sad to see him go. I hoped he would come back and fight for more playing time. It seemed Gott cut his playing time too drastically so I guess I can't get too mad at him. I remember thinking when he was a freshman that he would be real good for us by his senior year and he seemed like he would be the team captain. Guess not.
