In a letter from my friends at the NC Department of Revenue. Claiming I made an error in a tax return I filed in 2011

Why the fuck did it take them so long to contact me if this is true????
I'm assuming they hope people will have lost their documents from that long ago, pay the discrepancy, and not question the NC dept of rev. Seems like an effective voluntary tax if you ask me.

You know what's really annoying? Final notices from NCDOT on fees you never got an initial notice on. I'm looking at you $.89 worth of 540 tolls.

I got the same notice, except they want $100 from me. 2011 was a long ass time ago and that money is long gone.

$70 is nothing, I paid $1400+ in back taxes owed from 2011... then they amended my tax return for that year and had to pay back $700+. I made $15k this year and $2100 went back to the Fed already.

I also forgot to mention, they garnished my bank account. I got my 'final notice' in October and it was literally the very first notice I had received about owing money.

well, since I was in Afghanistan all but 2 months last year, my taxable income was 9k or so....

great time to cash in those savings bonds when I was born and cash out mutual funds

I get final notices from the DMV and vehicle tax fuckers...I'm not sure I've ever gotten an "initial" notice.
