Conspiracy? Intentional? Unintentional? Probably nothing to see here, but atleast I got your attention
If you make a line from each end of "The Oval' on centennial, it goes strait to the belltower (ok this was actually intentional, per the university architect)

PNC and Carter-Finley end to end line goes strait to the Chancellors House entrance. Deeper meaning?

What you got? FYI I used http://www.scribblemaps.com/ and then took a screenshot. 3/6/2014 10:55:39 AM

there's gold buried underneath leazar hall. the freemasons put it there when performing their alchemy demonstrations for our lord demon, Richard Burr, who is on His 27th moon life. all praise the high priests of Hillsborough and 9th level master wizard Daniel Allen. 3/6/2014 3:51:49 PM

this was actually the only way they could symbolically connect the campuses. The design was used as a way to create an axis of symmetry and help form the layout for building arrangements. They didn't want to just lay shit out on a hill. A.B Harris (then the univ/ architect) help formulate this design. there were several alternatives, but none really connected with main campus at all since the two campuses were really far apart. also, most of campus is so damn boring and many traditions have since been lost that the tower was the only real option.
/sidenote The tower itself had several alternatives, too. A Chapel made of bricks, archway, giant mast. The WWI Memorial thankfully took the form of a chime and clock tower. we're working on the bell part.

PS. Dan Allen was a wealthy investor who helped the univ in its early days.
PPS. The freemasons did put currency and valuable items in the cornerstone of Holladay Hall. 3/6/2014 9:25:08 PM

It's in the plan to connect Pullen to oval drive. Which means you could now get from the oldest part of campus to the newest part of licketty split via wolfline. Would be remarkable for campus connectivity.
They're just waiting on the Catholics to start work on that new cathedral so we can build the connecting road. 3/7/2014 8:37:40 AM

^^ Really hope that's true. Hopefully they'll replace the bridge over Western and widen Pullen as well.
