Sad day for Raleigh. We used to always go there after little league games as a kid, probably because it only took 1 hotdog to put my brother and I in a food coma for the afternoon.

And their food was well above average for a burger joint, due almost entirely to their super buttery breads.

Funny before I heard about this I was messing around over there and noticed how the building exterior looks like complete shit in disrepair now.

I guess the business model is not popular anymore, fuddruckers used to be cool too and they are all gone. I do remember hanging out in the downstairs bar when I worked at Best Buy in the early 2000s, but have not been in there for a long time.

So the official word is that the owner (the uncle of a high school classmate) has decided to retire after a 30 year run. Apparently no one stepped up and wanted to buy him out to keep it going, so he has sold the building and the land.

This place was mediocre. My husband got his order wrong, and when he tried to complain, he basically had to prove by showing his receipt that he indeed ordered bacon and grilled onions on his burger. But even after showing the receipt, all he got was the bacon.
I did not care for their sour bread, and their poor salad bar.
We ordered the burgers medium well and we got them well done.

Well, I've been going there for the past 15 years or so and never had a bad experience. I've only been to the bar downstairs one time though so I can't say much for that. I agree with one of the previous statements that the buns really make their burgers. I used to think they were a bit over priced, but compared to some of the new burger places that have opened recently, they're pretty reasonable. Fat Daddy's will definitely be missed!
