if a medium well burger doesn't taste good it is not because of it's done-ness.

i prefer just a little bit of pink in my burgers since ground beef harbors much more bacteria than a steak. I like my steaks rare or medium rare, depending on the cut.

Cargo shorts and pants are not only stylish but incredibly utilitarian. I'm going into the establishment with can drinks and coming out with at least a few condiments and some glassware

I've known people to put ceramic or plastic ramekins in their togo box, and swipe them. They come in handy around the home kitchen.

restaurant hack:

if you're black, no one expects you to tip.

[Edited on March 31, 2014 at 3:34 PM. Reason : i know this from having never worked in a restaurant. ever.]

Order your drinks with no ice to maximize the amount of beverage you get. If you feel like you might be cheating the establishment by doing so, don't worry - the waiters/waitresses will fuck up and still put ice in there 9 times out of 10.

[Edited on March 31, 2014 at 3:45 PM. Reason : and then 10/10 when they refill]

If you're a server and you have a table that orders a bunch of sodas, split them off before you close the check and pocket the $2+ per soda. Someone else will probably get sodas that night and you can ring up their food on the check you just split off.

Protips:

1) Servers, bartenders, etc.: shut the hell up. quit whining and bitching. you have a job, so do it. If you have to make 10 runs for 1 table, then make 10 runs. If you have a slow table, deal with it. Your job is to serve, so shutup and serve. Don't like it? Change jobs.

2) Patrons: shut the hell up. quit whining and bitching. don't be a dick; your server/bartender/etc. are working hard and likely have to wait on more than just your table. Be efficient and clear. Know what you want when it's time to order. Make orders/request in bunches and not every time the server comes back. You have a simple task: order, eat/drink, leave. Don't make it more complicated than that and don't make someone's job hell.

^^^Just leave the sodas off the check altogether.

If they don't charge for the soda, you leave extra tip. That's the unspoken agreement among those of us who enjoy petty theft and embezzlement.

On a somewhat similar note, a cashier has only tried to keep my change once in my life, and it was the strangest thing...something was off about her, and somehow, I knew she was gonna do it before she did. I didn't even look down at the money or bother to count it. When you're supposed to close your hand and take the change, I just left it out there open and told her that she forgot the rest.

You would think it's unspoken...but the majority of the time the extra tip is not given.

Go to Fat Daddy's when it is real busy. Wait for them to call out the name of a person that isn't vulturing the counter then take off with their food.

Order something to go from a wing place, like a half dozen wings. Accidentally take someone else's order who got like 2 dozen wings, cause it was by accident.

Similar to that, I will go to Ruby Tuesday, get something that either has the salad bar for one of its included sides or something that will let you add it for $1.99, fill up on salad and then take the entree home for later.

Works great if you go for lunch so you'll have food when you get hungry later.

Go to eat with ShawnaC123, and then after the meal, pull the "oh, I forgot my wallet at home" routine. Then after she pays, offer her sexual favors.

BAM! You just got a free meal, and you got to sleep with a bad ass bitch

No b/c then you are relying on the general public to not be antisocial assholes about tipping, which any TWW tipping thread would tell you would be an unwise move

Go to a restaurant frequently? Find a sever/bartender that suits you and treat them well and get to know them (especially bartenders) they'll hook you up when they can.

Years ago at the Wendy’s on western the car in front of me ordered, then just drove off. I got to the pay window, and they quoted me a high price, thinking I was the other car, so I informed them that that car left and I paid for my small purchase. When I got to the second window, they handed me a giant bag filled with whatever that other car had ordered, which was a whole lot more than what I did. I just took it and left. This just happened randomly, but I suppose nefarious duos could team up and try to pull that scam on purpose. Of course it would only work with a 2 window drive through setup
