Hi all, NCSU Alumn here.
I have a friend moving to Raleigh who has a BFA in Graphic Design. Like many of us Wolfpackers, my degree is not in the arts, but I am well aware that we have a pretty good design school. I was hoping to find him some help via the good ol' Wolfweb, since I'm not as well-equipped to help him.
Does the College of Design have any pointers to students in Graphic Design, in terms of finding a job after graduation? Do they help students find jobs? Anyone on this site have any advice for where he might apply to, or any recommendations for a new-to-Raleigh Graphic Designer?
Many thanks! 4/15/2014 8:37:23 PM |

A portfolio and actually knowing what you're doing helps more than anything. 4/15/2014 10:03:03 PM |

^ NO.
Depending on what type of design he wants to do, there are a couple of different options.
If he's looking for more traditional print design, tell him to join AIGA and look at the jobs board on their website.
If he's looking for UI work, check http://triuxpa.org/jobs, dribbble, LinkedIn. There's a lot of work out there in this area at the moment.
The College of Design is also having their senior portfolio review soon (not sure of the exact date, within the next week or two)... he could try networking at that. There are generally quite a few companies that interview and hire on the spot at those. 4/16/2014 7:47:40 AM |
