'97 Crown Vic, 4.6/auto
So starting Thursday mid-day, the Vic has acquired an odd vibration under certain circumstances. It only seems to happen in 3rd or 4th, under light throttle, and (here's the strange part) apparently only when the air conditioning is running. It's a fast vibration that feels almost like running over rumble strips. Kind of disconcerting, but it stops if you back off the throttle, or if you gun it. No check engine light so I don't think it's throwing a code (will bring it by somewhere to put it on a code scanner just in case).

I had a sort of similar issue with the Marauder a few years back that ended up being the coil pack, so that's in my head. Also trying to determine when plugs/wires were last done. Other likely possibilities?

I've tried to make it repeat the behavior with the a/c turned off and I can't seem to. Darnedest thing...

Plugs were replaced 8/2012. I don't see a receipt for wires during the entire time the car has been in the family (since 2003) so that may fall under the category of "good idea to replace anyway".

Sucks going back to a car with wires after the last couple were coil-on-plug...
