Anyone know some places that have good mussels? I usually get them fresh from the seafood place near the farmer's market and make them myself but I'm pressed for time and craving some. Also, I prefer a cream base or wine base - not a fan of marinara with mussels.
I know of: - Hibernian North - wine base with a Thai twist - Pickled Onion - has green tips on pasta with a garlic wine base - 42nd St. - garlic butter or marinara appetizer size - The Station - marinara - Hayes Barton Cafe - marinara pesto base
If anyone can add to this list, that would be great.
I wish we had a solid Belgian bar in Raleigh like they do in Philly (Eulogy, Monks, etc.) or NYC (Flex, BXL) ![](images/frown.gif) 6/25/2014 5:14:21 PM

Ima tell you what, son. Sushi Thai in Lake Boone shopping center has some dank-ass Dynamite Mussels (baked with mayo, avocado, masago). 6/25/2014 5:27:16 PM

I'm a Belgian citizen. My family loves to eat mussels at Coquette in north hills. Best moule frites I've had They have cream based sauce

Had some last night at Second Empire that were pretty good.
Then again I'm not a mussels connoisseur. 6/26/2014 8:03:54 AM

If you're willing to head over to Carrboro, I really love the mussels at Milltown. Great selection of Belgian beers to go along with them also. 6/26/2014 9:24:56 AM

^^^I forgot about Coquette - those are really good.
^^Bar or main dining?
^I go to Chapel Hill / Carrboro from time to time - I'll check that place out, thanks.
edit: looking at their menu, that is EXACTLY the type of place I was looking for
