Haha, I came into work this morning at 730 and see this thread and go straight for the Paddock Cam. Everything was dark, spent about 10 minutes trying to use other browsers upon realizing that it is 1 AM at the Zoo.

Giraffe births are downright comical. They get their first concussion about 2 seconds after their born, then get to stagger around for hours.

We've had calves born that stood up immediately after they hit the ground. others take a few hours to a day, but I don't ever remember having a calf that lived that wasn't up and walking in a day.

Whenever I think back to my biology class, I always get distracted by how hot my teacher was, well at least she was so to me.

Dr. Miriam Ferzli, man she was just totally perfect.

She was all that with about a 6 foot tall body, slim and trim with some curves to boot.

I had one that was born 6 weeks early. It didn't stand up for a week. It was the cutest thing ever.
