Georgia state is usually good. I'd imagine they'd be like 2 point underdogs since we are at home though.

Didn't Georgia State beat Florida last year? Pretty sure they're bringing back their best offensive player(QB) and best defensive player(S) from last year.
We'll likely win but we'll probably lose a starter for season. NC State shit and all.

That pt spread sounds like easy money betting on GSU. Risky as we don't really know how good Brisset is at this point. If he is the reincarntion of RW, then I like State. If he is Pete Thomas and Brandon Mitchell's love child, then GSU should cover easily. 8/25/2014 4:41:15 PM |

I think the reason for the huge point differential is because they're completely revamping their offense and lost quite a few players from the team that beat UF.
We should win, but I agree, 23 seems unrealistic. Even if we do get up by 20+ points we're going to put in the back-ups early enough that it'll keep the margin smaller. 8/25/2014 7:10:53 PM |

^^Our defensive line should be able to manhandle GA Southern. The DTs (Teal, McGill, Nelson) might be the best in the ACC, and there are some playmakers at DE with Norman, Rose, Street, etc.
We've just got to hope there's some people behind them that can tackle. 8/26/2014 1:27:42 AM |

^^^^ I am sorry. What is the reason for the guaranteed explosion of the offense? And ^^, FSU just scoffed at the fact that NC State thinks they have the best anything in the ACC. 8/26/2014 7:23:45 AM |
LudaChris All American 7946 Posts user info edit post |
I wouldn't expect an explosion of offense, but it's a fair assessment that our OL will be improved and QB play has to be at least as good but odds are better. So I think expecting us to look better on offense isn't a stretch. We actually scored plenty of points last year.
I don't think we have the #1 DL in the ACC, but I could see top 2-3 at least as far as DT's go, especially if you factor in depth. FSU is a great team, but they don't have the best player at every position in the ACC. Heck they only had 2 defensive players make All-ACC this year, and neither of those were a DT. 8/26/2014 8:31:04 AM |

WTF??? We averaged 22.8 ppg last year. That is shit in today's NCAA unless you have an Alabama defense. If you take out the LT and CMU games, we averaged 18.6 ppg. Our offense was complete shit and Brisset needs to be MUCH better than Thomas/Mitchell if we hope to get to a bowl this year.

^^ So you compared us to 3 other schools with horrible offenses too and somehow that makes the statement "We actually scored plenty of points last year" true?
Our problem last year was more offense than defense. The defense was just flat out exhausted by the end of games due to the inept offense and all our 3 and outs. 8/26/2014 1:33:48 PM |

Yep. FSU went up 35-0 with 2:02 left in the 1st quarter. It was 42-0 at the half.
Our first 1st down was off a screen pass on 3rd & 12 and Mitchell's QBR for the game was 4.9

Nobody who watched our offense last year can honestly say we weren't that bad.

And I would be willing to say that 1/4 of our ppg totals were scored in the 4th Q of blowouts, where the opposing D either had the 2nd team in or starters who stopped giving a damn.
Hopefully we've turned it around this year with Brissett. Plus, if we have a halfway legitimate passing threat it should open up the field for Dayes/Shad.
