Townes van Zandt is one of the most overlooked country musicians ever. Period. He wrote what came to be an iconic piece while he was broke playing at open bars in Texas. Then, Willie Nelson covered it, and it did wonders for Willie's career, but Townes van Zandt still spent the rest of his days living in motels and playing to rather small crowds.

And BTW dead flowers is not a Town van Zandt song. It is a Rolling Stones cover. But, I see what you did there.
