Regardless of race the assailants should be charged as adults with aggravated assault if it was in fact part of a "game" as they knew what they were doing. At least the video will help in terms of evidence. If the victims were armed they would have been fully within their rights to use deadly force.

I've never heard of roving groups of kids walking around trying to fight people, this must be a Tennessee thing.

But i don't see the need to charge them as adults either, that seems to remove any distinction of what a juvenile crime is vs. adult crime. Wouldn't all teenagers "know what they're doing"? Shouldn't they all be charged as adults?

If a crowd of people is attacking you I think it is reasonable to say you would be in fear of losing your life (and thus deadly force in self defense would be justified). If it were a bunch of white kids attacking that would be no different. I fully acknowledge white privilege, the problem of profiling etc (see my posts on Mike Brown), but the video is pretty clear in terms of there being some sort of attack here. I am generally pretty far left, but these senseless acts make my blood boil. I do admit "charge as adults" was prompted by that and probably dumb.

Moving on to the autistic kid who was essentially tortured I feel those responsible should be punished severely. As for the frat the video is not completely clear what is happening other than at least a B&E and assault of the guy taking the video, and obviously those responsible should be held to account for that (if they haven't been already).

If the victim had a gun, the kids probably wouldn't have attacked, and this never would have happened.

Or, also more likely, the kids would have attacked too quickly, and the gun toter wouldn't have had time to pull it out.

Also, if a bystander had a gun, and the kids scattered, I don't think it would have been legal to shoot someone then either.

There aren't many realistic scenarios where someone could have legally shot somewhere here.

Very true on the account they may not have attacked if he pulled a weapon. If that were the case than he would not be able to shoot them if they backed down, and that would be the best outcome. If they were to attack and he had time to draw a weapon he could only shoot until the threat was neutralized. If the scattered and ran away he wouldn't be able to legally keep picking them off. That is all hypothetical though, since he wasn't armed.
