Its not difficult. Prepare to find a broken tensioner if your first belt broke. There are plenty of youtube videos showing you how to do it. I did it once with no problems. 9/9/2014 11:23:36 AM |

Here is the deal. The dryer would spin but no heat.
I replaced the heating coil and associated fuses. On the first run after that the heat worked and dryer spun, but then the belt broke.
Now the dryer doesn't make any noise at all. I'm assuming there is some sort of switch that would keep the motor off if the belt is broke, is this true?
Its weird that everything would break all at once.

You weren't storing a fleeing criminal in your dryer, were you? I hear that can cause problems.

Black sheep, it sounds like the motor burned out. I suspect the tensioner wheel probably seized, causing friction on the belt and overheated the motor. Although it is strange this would all happen at once. I am almost 100% positive that the motor would spin, even if there was a belt off. You may have a switch broken, the one that detects if the door is open. I'd check the switch to see if it works. Should be a simple continuity switch. The motor is likely 12V. I suspect you could hook it to a car battery to see if it works. 9/10/2014 1:29:39 AM |

It turns out it was just a fluke that the belt broke at the same time as the fuses. The belt lever has a switch to disable the motor should the belt break.
New belt and its all working now. 9/17/2014 11:14:00 AM |
