I'm going to watch Gotham(FOX) and Scorpion(CBS) tonight. Scorpion solely because the pilot was directed by Justin Lin (Fast and Furious) and is supposed to be pretty nuts.

As much as it pains me to agree with douchetownral on anything, I have to say that </Scorpion> was pretty god damn horrible.

The problem with writing a show/movie about a character that is supposedly smarter than 99.999% of everyone else, is that he needs to actually be smarter than everyone else, including the audience. When you can come up with a dozen solutions to the problems the characters face off the top of your head that are superior to the ones that the smart guys come up with, the show fails pretty hard. (Sidenote, this is also why I absolutely hated that movie Limitless)

Almost all of the computer interactions were painfully fictionalized to the point of just being dumb. I suppose the full name of the show should have been the first clue that they were going for more style over actual real world substance. The idea that someone would allow a software update to randomly automatically install on a web server for a small business is absurd. The idea that you would update software that controls all the air traffic on the western seaboard to update in a manor is just so far fetched, you'd have to know absolutely nothing about computers to think that was realistic. And then when they go to grab a backup, but they only have several minutes to get the backup before the one and only backup gets overwritten...uhh, no. That's not how backups work for my cell phone, much less the servers for LAX. And then the idea that to transfer a file from the plane to the ground means that you need to drive a supercar underneath it at 200MPH instead of using one of the several hundred cell phones onboard to transfer the file is pretty dumb. Or, hey, crazy thought, land the plane instead. Or at the very least, turn on wifi on the laptop in the ferrari and transfer it that way. Nope, use an ethernet cable. Because that's what the smartest person on the planet would do for sure.

I knew the show would be out there, but I actually had a little bit of hope that it could at least be fun. I'm all for turning off your brain and enjoying a guilty pleasure show for the bit of mindless entertainment that it is, but you have to draw the limit somewhere. I think I'd have to be braindead to actually enjoy this.

Agreed. Not surprised at all that people on here saying how terrible it is, however, it is on CBS, so it will probably be the most watched new show of the season, soon to be followed by Scorpion: New York, and Scorpion: Miami

tonight is the premiere of Black-ish on ABC. I thought this show would be critically dismantled from the beginning but it actually seems to be getting a lot of early good reviews. I'll DVR it since it's following Modern Family and give it a shot. A black family that's not quite black!? riveting.

Honestly, I think </Scorpion> deserves it's own thread, if for no other reason than to discuss how horrible it is. If nobody posts in it, it will fall to the bottom (just like the locked thread will) and we never see the thread again. If the community does deem it worthy of discussion, then it will be easier (and way more obvious) where discussion should go. Basically locking that thread was pretty fucking stupid.

I thought blackish was pretty humorous, Morpheus is my favorite character thus far.


As far as scorpion and the plane, I believe the idea behind not landing at the secondary airport was that the runway was too short.

Considering most of the old women at my work (and also my parents) could probably lose their remotes and not care as long as the channel was set to CBS, the show will probably end up succeeding no matter how terrible it is.

yeh, the second episode of scorpion was better.

HTGAWM was quite interesting, I thought. Definitely looking forward to seeing this some more.
