as a veteran of many weddings, I can safely say that wedding bands kill wedding fun
even the good ones aren't as good as a below-average DJ 9/24/2014 12:19:13 AM |

^ Our wedding band was better than any DJ I've seen at a wedding, and I've seen some good DJs (went to one a couple weeks ago that was very close). But our wedding band was like 9 black dudes and one Alicia Keyes type chick that danced all over the place and it was nuts. They were, however, Texa$. So maybe the basic wedding band isn't as good as a below average DJ. But you pay enough money, and there are some awesome wedding bands. I was highly against a band until I saw a few that we were choosing from.
Btw...our first dance song was Stay With You - John Legend. 9/24/2014 12:56:05 AM |

Baptist weddings are the worst. Long ass boring ceremony with singing and bible readings, then a reception with no alcohol and usually just light appetizers because no one wants to sit around sober so they all leave pretty quick and go home to get wasted because it's only a sin if someone else sees you do it. 9/24/2014 10:42:09 AM |

Yea it was boring. The service itself was pretty short, as my wife didn't really give two shits about a big fancy ceremony. Afterwards we just hung out in the fellowship hall and ate wedding cake, appetizers and the guests pretty much just waited on us to leave so they could throw rice at us. 9/24/2014 3:05:36 PM |

If you live in the Morehead City/Beaufort area, odds are my uncle's band has played your wedding.
We got married at John's Grill in San Francisco. No music aside from what they were already playing there (Nat King Cole, Sinatra, Dean Martin). Super small, short ceremony.
Part of this was to avoid family and wedding band obligations, honestly. 9/24/2014 5:24:13 PM |

First Dance: You Are the Best Thing by Ray LaMontagne
Romantic and slow enough but not boring and still fun to dance to.
We did not have a DJ, just did some research and put together a bunch of songs we loved or had special meaning or we just thought would be a good time. As the night went on we opened up grooveshark or spotify or something and let people add songs they wanted to dance to. 9/24/2014 5:42:10 PM |

and first song. . . . "Baby's Arms" - Kurt Vile dance with my mom: "In My Life" - Beatles
