i think everybody should drink whichever alcoholic beverages they prefer. just don't act all holier than thou because i'm drinking a miller lite or something.

I dont think I'm a beer snob. But now that I'm older, dont drink as much, and drink to enjoy the taste instead of getting wasted.... I don't buy the crap beer anymore. Crap beer being the buds, miller, Heinekens of the world. Instead, I enjoy the craft brews, and locals. I really like the dogfishhead beverages too.

I'm the opposite. I've become less snobby as I've gotten older. I was sucked into the beer snob world for several years and met a lot of unsavory people. I've also quit worrying about trying every new beer or seasonal release. I still drink good beer, but you'll find a 12 pack of PBR or Tecate in my cart right beside a 6-pack of something craft/local.

You won't catch me slamming LoneRider all day long during a gameday or out at the beach.

You also won't catch me sipping on Bud Light at home with a homecooked meal.

If I'm going to drink a lot of beers (beach, boat, tailgate, watching a game at the bar etc.), then I'm drinking cheap. Miller Lite and High Life are the choices. Modelo Especial on the beach.

But I'm drinking good beer with dinner or if I'm just out to have a couple. The snobbery comes with the beer clubs, meet-ups, trading through mail, getting in line for special releases, etc. You can still do all of that shit and not be snobby...but it's tough.

Basically, yeah.

I went through a phase last football season, I'd only buy Bud Light (out of the cheap beers, that is) because they had the Panthers logo on the can. So if you want me to buy your beer, please put a logo of my team on the can.

But now I live in GA and they don't have Panthers cans

My go to cheap beer is usually PBR but lately it's been Miller Lite cans because of the old style they're using now. Marketing totally works!

Some of my coworkers are snobs. One guy got real angry/upset after he thought someone had ordered a beer for him at a local brewery. I like nice beer and I like cheap beer, like others have said.. depends on the context. If it's draft beer though I usually get something nicer than Miller Lite if I can.

On the real tho, I like lots of beers. But I don't like most IPAs. And beer snobs look down on me for that.

I don't drink nearly as much beer as I used to, so therefore I get "mid-grade" (sam adams, etc) to better-grade (higher end stuff you can get a grocery stores with good selections. beer. I would not call myself a beer snob though since I don't really get into the "special release-grade" beer... mostly because the prices on those can be ridiculous.

Miller Lite is also my go-to cheap beer.
PBR is yummy.
Bud Select is ok.
Bud Light is fucking terrible.
Coors Light is ok if you're into water.
Modelo is yummy...as is pretty much any mexican style beer, Pacifico etc.
Corona is last place for mexican style beer, but still far better than Bud Light.
I can fuck with High Life from time to time.
Natty Light is aite.
Can't really get into Schlitz
Yuengling is yummy.
I think I like regular Coors
Budweiser is gross.

Usually drink IPAs or something similar with dinner or out with friends. Enjoy trying new ones, but I have never stood in line for them, mailed or special ordered beer, etc. Really got into Two Hearted and a Dogfish Head of late.

That said, I am not drinking that shit I am out tailgating or sitting at the beach. I'll be drinking Bud Light or Miller Lite in that case. But I haven't "gone drinking" in quite a while. I'm usually only interested in a single beer for dinner.

man, when i was in school and immediately after graduating (ie, broke) i'd go for milwaukee's best every time. it was always like $2 cheaper than anything else. $10.99 or something like that for 24. but holy fucking shit it tastes awful. and that's coming from somebody that is perfectly content drinking low end, cheap beers.

that said, buying milwaukee's best was always good way to make sure nobody would steal your beers at a party or tailgate.

Best beer snob story ever!

Years ago, 8 unc chicks, their unc douce bag boyfriend, me and another normal dude (first time meeting him) go on a trip. The ringleader, was a major beer snob douche bag. He had a god damn leather bound book he carried with him at all times so he could take notes on the beers he had. It was his prized possession, litterlaly went out of the way to try beers hours away on every trip to take his notes. His goal was to publish his notes, after med school of course, but it was all he talked about, ever. Seriously, it was all he cared about. His girlfriend, now wife, was a total trophy, she was hot, and he was fat, and rich, so there is that.

2nd night, me and normal dude can't take it anymore, the doucheness was out of control, so we grab the girls and start taking shots at the bar while the boys chatted.

Fast forward a few hours, trophy opens up and said she hated her douche boyfriend and wanted to have a devils threesome with me and normal guy. I said no thank you, but he hit the home run. And now the kicker...

He jizzed in the leather bound beer book! Douche beer snob left the book in the kitchen, and guess where it went down! Normal guy told me the next day, and for the next 3 days we became best friends. The trip was way better as beer douche pulled out the book and repeatedly obsessed how he had no idea where the grease stain came from.

I do like good beer, but I also have an extraordinarily high tolerance for shitty beers.

If you threw a party and served nothing but Milwaukee's Best, I'd be kinda surprised and would participate in the conversation that would result then and later. But I'd cheerfully drink your Milwaukee's best and enjoy the party.

No beer (as long as it's cold) tastes bad to me.

Miller Lite, Bud Light and Coors Light are damn near identical. Depends on what mild flavor you prefer with your equally potent watered down beer. It's like saying "McDonald's is my go-to fast food. Burger King is fucking terrible. Wendy's is ok if you're into processed food."

I will definitely go out of my way to have some delicious, quality beer; but, I will not judge people for drinking stuff that I think is crap. Also, I will defend myself if people argue that what I am drinking is crap.

And most people I know take "breaks" from heavy drinking, which is something that is difficult for me to manage. So, what I do is switch to the cheaper, non-fancy watered down stuff for my "drinking pause". Everything has its purpose.

Beer snobs are no different than regular snobs. It's not the preference for good beer that makes them a snob.

I like good beer and don't care what other people drink.

This thread is just like saying, "Drunks who drink cheap beer, discuss them here" as it implies that all people that drink cheap beer are drunks. Just because people like good beer doesn't make the snobs. It's the snobbish behavior that makes them snobs.
