I'm thinking about going to check this out. November 7th. Anybody interested in cruising up with me?

I'm interested in going. Is this actually happening though? I've looked all over the place and seen no mention of VIR doing holiday laps this year. What is your source?

^ depends on your track experience..

If you have ever done a track day/hpde kind of thing, no.

If you have only Autox and toodled around town, it is a good way to experience the track first hand.

Max speed approx 80. Brake way early to the turns then get it pretty hard coming out of them (except 5a, people love hitting the wall there)

Lap times should be around the 3:30 mark I would estimate.

Think my 2.0 TDI would keep up? I have 236 torques and a lot of grips.

$25 per session, each session about 15 minutes (4 laps?). Running from 8 AM to 3:45 PM

You really need a long stretch to get cars like ours to their top speed. I don't know how far, but I know it would take a minute.

It says a pace car leads at "highway speeds" so I think it might not really matter how fast your car can go on the straights.

^^I barely hit 130 in my supercharged BRZ, so I'm gonna say nope.

Yeah, it might be a way to experience the race track and see what it's like, but certainly won't show you what it's like to drive on a race track. Might be valuable if you're curious what VIR is like, but if you've got track experience, it wouldn't be worth driving there just for the parade laps.

if you leave some space between you and the guy in front, you can have some fun. but they catch on to that quickly, so dont make it look very obvious.

and dont be stupid. video tape it if you will be stupid.

I feel like your driving was a lot tidier at CMP in the S2K. In any case I’m sorry it happened man, but I’m glad you didn’t give up on driving/track events.

Yes, next week will work, Wednesday? Let’s be in touch xoxo. <3

^Yeah it was sloppy driving for sure. Inferior tires (to what I was used to) and I was pushing too hard to try and keep pace with drivers in a more advanced group (than what I was used to). Bad combination Yeah next Wednesday is good.

I can't go tomorrow...slammed at work, just no way.

^^Hit the tire wall going around 55 mph, my guess at least as I left the track going 80. As to aftermath pics...we covered this on TWW last year when it happened, http://www.brentroad.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=577117&page=49

Yea it has a bump stick, so I can manually select gears. I'm not a road racer, but I had a blast.

The A6 in this car has the wrong ratios for the road course, 1-2 are way too similar to be usable, 3-4 are way too long (I can run 120 ish in 3rd). Also it likes to hunt for gears too much

I'm so out of my element on a road course its not even funny. I'm going to do a track day next year to learn. Ahmet should train me . Luckily I was dead last in the group so no one could watch me driving noob lines , but I was Michael Schumacher on the straights vroom vrooom

I’m available to instruct by request on private track days or with clubs that let me have a good time (Chin, Alfa Club, perhaps PCA, Trackdaze etc). and NOT with NASA! Last time I instructed with them, I had 3 students with the only break being lunch and the races, if you want to count that as a break.

Also, learning how to drive will increase one's enjoyment and speed with any car on a race track not to mention make you safer at all times, including on public roads. Yay.
