How can this guy even be considered as a candidate by Texas voters? And he is their attorney general? Shameful.



This is also the same candidate who is actively against handicapped rights. How can anybody take this guy seriously?

does "no comment" = guilty now? i mean the guy clearly needs to answer the question, but that inherently means he hasn't actually said anything resembling what the title of this thread suggests.

the back story here is Wendy Davis (who is nuts) is way behind in the polls and is grasping at straws. In a debate she asked him some weird irrelevant hypothetical question about interracial marriage, which he answered by calling her out for asking an irrelevant hypothetical question. She accused him of not supporting interracial marriage, even though there is absolutely no legislation in recent history, currently, or planned in texas. She is doing the typical thing of accusing the republican of being a racist, when in fact he is in an interracial marriage himself.

the other thing is that she has accused him of doing nothing for the rights of handicapped accident victims, even though he himself is paralyzed due to an accident.

his position now for why he doesn't support same sex marriage is the same that was used by those opposed to interracial marriage even after the supreme court ruled on it. she was setting up a trap for him, and he graciously (well, stupidly) let her win the talking point.

in both cases it is banning something because it's against a religion and the "traditional meaning" of marriage, it's wrong for the same reason in both cases, court decisions regarding interracial marriages are cited in same-sex marriage decisions, etc...

regardless, it's an obvious ploy to label Abbott as some sort of anti-interracial marriage racist, even though during his entire professional career interracial marriage has not been a current political issue. (and he is currently IN an interracial marriage.)
