A lot of companies I've looked into charge upwards of $30/person/hour. I assume their employees are making $10-$15/hour at most.

The self-employed housecleaners I know/know of usually charge ~$15-$20/hour (under the table), which I feel like is a really decent rate to be making (especially if the client is providing the supplies).

I'd like to just find an individual on craigslist or through a personal recommendation, but I've had no luck with the latter so far (everyone's schedules are overloaded), and craigslist seems like a complete gamble.

3900sqft house, we pay $125/week.

sweeps/vacuums and mops the floors, dusts all flat surfaces, cleans kitchen, does any dishes, cleans all the windows, baseboards.

cleans bathrooms, bedrooms, our screened in porch.

she doesn't do all of our laundry, but if our guest room was slept in, she'll wash all the sheets and towels and make the bed.

probably some other stuff i'm not thinking of right now.


but i'd definitely recommend paying a flat fee per cleaning rather than a per-hour rate.

my parents have house cleaners that come and clean their house (three stories) once a week. they pay them a $40 flat rate and they come with like a team of Mexican kids and do everything in like three hours. vacuum, mop, dust, etc. and they do the dishes that are in the sink, make all of the beds, take out the garbage, and will do laundry for the bedding and stuff.

We pay $80 (plus tip) every other week. She brings her Mexican helper, and can get our ~1800sqft house clean in about 60-90 minutes. They don't do the dishes, but they will do all of the deep cleaning and wash sheets/make beds.

My only issue with her is that she uses natural cleaning supplies, so our house doesn't have the newly cleaned smell I grew up with.

$150 every other week...house is 4,000 SF, but 3,000 SF are all that she does (doesn't do basement, which only needs vacuuming).

She vacuums, mops, washes the windows, remakes the beds (with new sheets), washes base boards, dusts, arranges crap that's out, cleans inside/out of appliances, etc. She usually comes for about 5 hours.

So I just found a company that looks legit and they'll do a "one bedroom" (mine) for $119 less a $20 promo code (so $99 for the first time).

^^^i pay a couple hundred bucks a month (for utilities) and get to live in a big, old, beautiful house in a beautiful neighborhood. I have 3 bathrooms, a big driveway, a completely reno'd kitchen, sound system throughout the entire house (including in my bathroom). My bedroom has a granite wet bar that seats 4, a theatre-style couch (plus a regular couch), and a beautiful full bath that I don't share with anyone. There is a workout room with treadmill, free weights, bowflex system (??), water cooler, and a bunch of other shit that I don't use. Fireplaces in every room. Original hardwood and stained glass throughout, brand new windows and fixtures. Two staircases. My two roommates are collectively at the house maybe 3 nights/week. I often go a couple weeks without seeing one or either.

I'd say it's worth it

This is reasonable information to have.

- 3,500 sq ft (5 br, 3.5 bath)
- 2-3 people, 2-3 hours
- Clean interior, change sheets, break down the gas range and clean the parts so pretty thorough. Clean lights and refrigerator from time to time
- Company carries adequate insurance so if anything gets messed up I just buy a new one and give them the receipt and the item in question and the reimburse me
- $150 every other week, but I have to pay a premium on all services due to this neighborhood as compared to my last, slightly larger house in 27604

Probably.

The way it works is, she gets to fucking up, we bail her out for 2-4 months, she works for 3-4 months and pays us back, then she gets "depressed" again and the cycle repeats. The good news is she is a nurse so when she is working she makes $20-$30 an hour and gets pretty much unlimited hours.

So this is awkward. A friend of a friend of my old roommate's helped us move into the house where I currently live about three years ago. She was super nice and worked hard all day. I took everyone who helped us out to a nice dinner that night, and heard from her a few times over the years (via FB or whatever).

Anyway, guess who just shows up at my door to clean? That's right, Tiffany. The first thing she said was something along the lines of "I thought I recognized this house - I helped you move in here!" and then we made some small talk.

I have SO much work to do but I really feel obligated to be down there cleaning with her.
