There does seem to be a bit of a false dichotomy being peddled by the NYPD, R. Giuliani, the talking heads on Fox News, etc...
A false dichotomy of either you are pro police, or you support the murder of these two officers.


Personally, I think we could all benefit from dialing down the rhetoric. It is an absolute shame that these officers lost their lives at the hands of a mentally unstable person. I don't think that the blame lies in any anti-police sentiment, the protests, or anything like that. I think the blame lies in the mentally disturbed person who did this and perhaps any lack of help for his instability.

ehhhhh...clearly he had a crazy fire burning before this happened, but the recent sensationalism of "police are bad and militarized and all they do is kill black kids" stoked it to the point of him snapping. i mean you don't go and execute two cops after posting about garner and brown on instagram all on you own.

I don't know what set the guy off. He shot his ex in the stomach too, and I don't think she was a cop. Maybe he just wanted attention (instagram posts)

As for the media.... Sensationalizing the story...that's what they do. I'd argue that for every story you hear of 'all cops are dirty, out to stalk and kill blacks, and get away with it', there is an equally extreme story about a 'demon thug out there assaulting helpless cops out of the blue'. It is a biased story. And if something like that sets off a mentally unstable person, they are just as likely to be set off by any bad news.


But the reality is somewhere in the middle. Deblasio, the protests, and the general sentiment of the community has been largely peaceful. Calling for more accountability of the police and the legal system, less racial profiling, more community oriented policing, and less militarization of the police. To characterize that as a war on cops is dangerous in its own right.

So a black guy kills an Asian and a Hispanic for retaliation as to what the whites did to the blacks across the country and more particularly for choking a fat man.

Which reminds me, the victims of the cigarillo robbery in Ferguson were also Asians who operated a convenience store, and demon eyes shoved the proprietor out of his way (once again, black on asian crime).


Why are whites continuing to be demonized? There is actually a bigger narrative surrounding black/asian relations to be told in this entire thing.
