http://oscar.go.com/nominees
I haven't heard of most of the films nominated for best picture...
also surprised Interstellar wasn't up for much. 1/15/2015 1:05:37 PM |

I was going to make a thread for Whiplash. One of the best movies Ive seen in a while.
J.K. Simmons definitely deserves the Oscar for that role. 1/16/2015 10:18:21 PM |

cool predictions, bro:
Picture - I've seen all of them except Sniper. Imitation Game/Whiplash were my favorites. Boyhood/Birdman will win.
Director - Linklater
Actor - honestly thought Oyelowo was good enough to win but obviously he wasn't nominated. Wouldn't be surprised if Redmayne wins but I wasn't crazy about that movie. Keaton was really good too.
Supporting actor - Simmons clearly the winner here IMHO
No clue on the actresses because I either haven't seen the movies they were in or I wasn't impressed with the ones nominated for movies I have seen. 2/2/2015 9:06:38 AM |

I haven't seen some of these movies but of the ones I have seen:
Best Picture - Imitation Game (haven't seen Boyhood but it seems like the type of movie the Academy drools over) Best Actor - Benedict Cumberbatch Best Actress - Rosamund Pike
haven't seen any of the movies for supporting actor
I've only seen Imitation Game for the best supporting actress noms.
This is one of the first years where I really hadn't heard of half the major nominations. I'll try to catch up on them though. 2/3/2015 10:51:34 AM |

Julianne Moore was really really good in Still Alice. I'm a sucker for mental illness movies but from what I've seen I'd be surprised if she didn't win 2/3/2015 11:53:45 PM |

Best Picture is a toss up for me between Birdman and Whiplash, but I'll go with Whiplash and lol when they give it to Boyhood for being "risky and challenging".
Best Actor* I'll go with Keaton. But, it will always be an Award with a * because Jake gyllenhaal was totally snubbed here.
Best Actress will be Moore, but it should be Pike.
Best Supporting Actor is J.K. Simmons.
Best Supporting Actress is also a toss-up, but I am gonna go with Stone.
Animated Film will be How to Train your Dragon 2.
For Best Director, I am really pulling for Anderson because the directing totally saved this movie and made it an incredibly emotional experience.
Makeup should go to Guardians
Best Score should go to Interstellar
For Original Song, gonna go with Glory. John Legend is without a doubt the best soul singer working right now, and one of the best ever.
Visual should be an easy one for Interstellar.
Best Screenplay should be Nightcrawler
