How dare an off duty cop defends themselves after an angry screaming man pulls out an icepick, and starts kicking and punching his car?

How traumatic this must have been for the criminal. All he wanted to do is break another man's car and threaten them with an ice pick, but some 2nd amendment gun nut decided to terrorize this poor victim his his assault pistol...

If only we could take all the guns away from cops, then America would be safer. Why do we even have cops, all they do is execute black people because they are racist, right? #BLM #IStandWithIcePickMan #IStandWithOrlando

Except there was no icepick recovered at the scene, nor was there any damage listed to his vehicle.

Try again weirdo.

^ why would it?

Gun owner gets in altercation with another gun owner, ends in shootout, innocent people put at risk.

It's a pretty good example of why most people want more gun control.

“That’s what I’ve spent the last two days doing, accounting for my operating error.”"

He added to the Tampa Bay Times: “That’s why yesterday was so stupid and freaky on me because the gun is supposed to be pointed downrange at all times.

“My first thought was: ‘That was pretty stupid of me. I should’ve put the gun down.’ ”"

We would have banned guns a long time ago if it wasn't for the 2nd amendment, but I suppose that's the point...

Seems like the same restrictions on purchasing pseudoephedrine should at least apply to guns. Or conversely, remove all restrictions on anything banned for deaths, that has killed less people than guns.

Quote :
"LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — Two United States service men, including a North Carolina native, were killed early Sunday morning coming to the aid of a woman being attacked at a South Carolina bar.

The mother-in-law of Jonathan Prins was still very emotional Monday evening and said her son-in-law was an awesome man.

Prins, 29, and 40-year-old Sgt. Charles Allen Judge Jr. were both gunned down at the Frayed Knot bar in Lexington County, South Carolina.

Prins is a native of the Cleveland area and attended West Johnston High School.

According to the owner of the bar where the shooting happened, the men were trying to help a woman being attacked by her boyfriend. Police said Joseph Mills was chasing his girlfriend with a gun and started beating her before opening fire on the crowd. Many of the patrons fled, but Prins and Judge stayed back to help the woman.

Police said Mills eventually shot and killed both men.

Mills faced a judge Monday and bail was denied in his case.

A Go Fund Me account set up for the Prins family said he was a husband and father of three young children. The account is aimed at raising enough money to send his children to Disney World, which is something he always wanted to do. More than $11,000 had been raised as of Monday night."

as a gun owner and open carry activist, I feel it's important to have a plan when shit goes down

basically, I'm cool with other people open carrying as long as their weapon is holstered

as soon as someone draws, I shoot them - no time to figure out if they are trying to help me or hurt me

I repeat this process until I'm the only one with a drawn weapon

I'm sure many gun owners think it possible that the guns they current possess might actually be made illegal - and I'm sure there are people who would actually like to pass such laws.

This actually presents a good point, though. A law that makes currently-possessed guns illegal has little chance of passing. But if we propose laws that make it harder to GET guns - and the laws to take effect gradually, with certain provisions making guns slightly harder to obtain over the course of 20 years or so - that actually might be easier to pass.

People care a hell of a lot more about themselves than they do about others, and about the present than the future. So, if gun control is implemented slowly and geared towards acquisition rather than possession, I can actually see some serious gun control coming into effect without a bloody civil war.

Most of the gun control measures suggested after shootings would have done absolutely nothing to stop the shooter, so if you use tragedies to justify passing gun control that will do nothing to stop tragedies, where does it end?

How about the left starts focusing on enforcing and using the gun control measures already in place? To reference the Dylan Roof example, the government's incompetence allowed him to purchase a gun through default proceed because they fucked up. The solution to government incompetence is not more government power.

^Are you seriously trying to imply that the fact that in aftermath of the absolute worst gun violence tragedies, when the general public is most sympathetic to the idea of some sort of gun law reform, the fact that the proposed changes don't go that far somehow implies that they will try to go too far in the future?

^^part of that so-called incompetence is in fact baked into the gun laws themselves, either through lack of funding or through hamstringing agencies intended to enforce the laws. Things like having very short periods of time for background checks, and if nothing turns up in 3 days or whatever, then the person gets their guns. Or the fact that records are kept on paper because of federal law.

It's not that the proposed changes "don't go that far", its that they don't prevent the incidents that spur all of these gun control discussions. So if a mass shooting justifies action from the left's perspective, but the action won't prevent mass shootings, it's just inching closer and closer to a registry, and one day a mandatory gun buyback program like Australia (which Clinton said we should look at). If all of the left's unreasonable gun control proposals got passed today, do you really think they wouldn't suggest additional control following the next mass shooting?

^The FBI had reported there was a "clerical error" for Roof's gun. 90% of background checks are instant. The left incorrectly labels Charleston's default proceed as a "loophole"... In reality it's a protection against government incompetence infringing on your right to buy a firearm.
