$4.8MM gold heist in Wilson, County on Sunday. Sounds like an inside job. 1) truck started experiencing "mechanical failures" and 2) it wasn't even an armored truck, it was a random semi.

What's the over under on when these guys get caught?

I've already got my suspicions on who it is

based on where this happened there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY this wasn't planned...

random bands of gold thieves just don't travel the roads between Kenly and Rock Ridge

This crime has white person written all over it. Think about, wtf are you going to do with 5 million in gold bars?

Its like the black criminals that stole the NASCAR last week, they give stuff back when they have no idea how to make money off of it.

I doubt the drivers were in on it, or even knew what they were carrying. It definitely sounds like an inside job, but I'd think it would involve either the truck dispatcher and/or the company the gold belongs to.

Dunno if the drivers knew what they were carrying or not. But the news last night said the drivers of the gold truck were armed, but obviously didn't use their weapons. Safe to assume they knew they had precious cargo, I think.

Gold is incredibly dense. A common standard for gold bars is 400 troy ounces or ~27.4 lbs. So basically, 10 of these:

^that explains the article I read this morning about them pulling over because of a 'gas' smell....

the original news14 broadcast showed a semi pulling a 53' van trailer..... was trying to figure out why they smelled gas in a diesel vehicle.
