I don't blame him. He had a privateane before, he's just replacing his old plane, and wants the best of Gods creations...

I'm trying to think how a millionaire preacher isn't an obscenity, but I'm not getting there. Wasn't Jesus against this very thing?

Yes. However, if a millionaire preacher is an obscenity, then so is like a good fifty percent of non-preaching millionaires.

I don't admire this guy, and I wouldn't want to be around him, but I can think of some worse ways people make their fortunes.

^^ This guy is in a line of work that shuns that sort of thing. He has a literal mandate from god to use any excess wealth he might have to help the needy; camels and needle eyes and whatnot. It's a good thing that his parishioners are so generous. To take that money for personal enrichment as opposed to using it for charity leads to the hot place. Evangelism is not it's own end.

I don't see a jet as any different than building a giant multimillion dollar church.

the whole congregation can enjoy the church, whereas only he can enjoy his airplajne

I think I get your point - why should we be spending Church money on luxury? - but the theory is that when we build a really nice church, we glorify God.

and this idea which isn't entirely unsupported by Scripture, incidentally. some woman poured really expensive oil on Jesus' feet the night before He was crucified, and he was like, "Yeah, this is totally appropriate, disciples."

also, the nicer the Church, the happier everyone is. and it's probably easier to attract new adherents when the Church is swanky.

in conclusion, jet =/= nice church

I guess this is why I don't go to church. All the keeping up with the joneses and wanting to have the best, newest, most expensive crap.
