where is the line drawn on supporting abortion versus supporting someone killing their babies upon birth? what if they're premature? what if their chances of survival are nil?

there are so many variables and so many hypotheticals here.

^^^I didn't "bring it up" as a foil to my well-formed stance; I was referring to the commentary on the article/case and how it relates to my questions.

I actually don't have a defined position on abortion; I just think it is very complicated and interesting and things like this make me think (and want to play devil's advocate)

Like, the woman convicted basically said "I did it because I knew I couldn't give them a good life". And commenters in that thread were saying that abortions would have been a much better alternative (I don't disagree). Let's assume the babies did not suffer, and she was somehow able to "put them to sleep" upon their births. How would the direct outcome have been any different?

Would a pro-choicer's argument become compromised if, say in 10 years, science comes up with a way to keep gestation viable outside the womb at 12 weeks?

From my experiences in speaking with others about abortion, it simply comes down to when you think a zygote becomes a person. Some think a zygote itself is already a person, so any form of abortion is immoral. Others think it comes at various points further along in development

So, the question is when do you think the tadpole-looking fetus thing counts as a person and there's lots of people throwing around lots of views about when that happens. When the gametes first join? When a circulatory system is first present? When the brain is first developed? When it first becomes self aware?

Obviously the latter one would come post birth, but I assume that such an argument on when a human becomes a human would need to be made for one to argue the morality on killing infants


But, since it's in chit chat, I assume I should be telling dead baby jokes. Such as, what did the dead baby get for Christmas? A dead puppy

I've actually never really seen the difference. In fact, I'm almost inclined to say that

not having sex 9 months ago = killing your newborn baby now

because, same result. no baby.

also, I really don't care for babies at all, so I'm a bit more like to be tolerant/receptive to the idea of killing them.
