A comprehensive list of shows/movies produced by Netflix so anyone looking for a new show to watch can know what's worth a shot. I haven't seen a lot of them and would like to know what some of you think. This is not a thread to talk plot points or spoilers (save that for the individual show threads). News of upcoming shows welcome. Stand-up specials and documentaries were left out because there are soooooooo many of them. Feel free to make suggestions for anything not listed.
* = continuation/additional episodes of a non-Netflix original

Adventures of Puss in Boots All Hail King Julien Arrested Development* Bloodline - tried watching this and didn't get into it. may try again. BoJack Horseman - awesome show. I watched the whole series in a day or so and then realized my cousin is a producer. Chef's Table - very well done. Daredevil Grace and Frankie Hemlock Grove House of Cards - obviously and awesome show. Knights of Sidonia Lilyhammer Marco Polo - loved it. binged it all in two nights. can't wait for more. Orange is the New Black - very good show. it's like Scrubs but in prison. kinda corny but entertaining. Problem Solverz* Richie Rich Star Wars: Clone Wars* The Killing* Trailer Park Boys* - I loved the original Trailer park boys but it seems kinda forced now. Chef's Table - I loved Jiro Dreams of Sushi (same director I think) so I will watch this. I started it the other night and promptly fell asleep as I was exhausted (not to say the show is bad, but it's not going to keep you awake). Will try again soon
House of Cards - This has obviously been talked about to death, but I stopped watching after the first episode of the second season. To explain why would involve spoilers, so I'll just say I guess the story twists are not for me, no matter how well produced and acted the show is
Lilyhammer - Watched the first 2 episodes a while ago and enjoyed it a lot. It's campy, but not overly so. It's on my list once I get around to it again
Marco Polo - By far the best visuals on screen today. Really well done, good acting...story and dialogue leave a little to be desired but I'm definitely hooked on this show
Orange is the New Black - Another show that really doesn't need extra commentary, but I will just say this is probably my favorite all around Netflix original 5/12/2015 9:52:09 AM |

Adventures of Puss in Boots All Hail King Julien Arrested Development* - Season 4 is weird, I didn't enjoy the character-centric episodes, but if you liked the first three seasons it's definitely worth the watch. I read somewhere that Hurwitz is re-editing Season 4 to be chronological instead of character centric, so I'd be interested to rewatch and see if that makes a difference. Bloodline BoJack Horseman - Hilarious. Will Arnett is great in this, and it's oddly serial for a cartoon. Chef's Table Daredevil - Plain Badass. Watch this immediately. The 'Street Level Heroes' initiative is off to a great start. Tonal feels a lot more like the recent Batman movies than anything else Marvel has done. Grace and Frankie Hemlock Grove - Interesting. A more melodramatic version of True Blood, and the first season at least feels a bit like a murder mystery. House of Cards - Interesting concept, but political dramas are not my thing. Enjoyed watching Kevin Spacey enough to watch season 1, but never picked it back up. Knights of Sidonia Lilyhammer - Watched the first season, definitely entertaining. No real reason why I haven't watched further other than I straight up forgot about it. Marco Polo Orange is the New Black - If you watched and liked Weeds you'll enjoy this series too. Problem Solverz* Richie Rich Star Wars: Clone Wars* The Killing* Trailer Park Boys* Turbo FAST Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - If you liked 30 Rock (or Tina Fey productions in general) you'll also enjoy this. Blew through this in a weekend with the girlfriend, the theme song is catchy as hell. Veggie Tales in the House 5/12/2015 10:11:03 AM |

Peaky Blinders is one of my top two favorite things on TV right now BUT...isn't this originally BBC created?
Netflix may called it a "Netflix Original", but I wouldn't if they didn't have anything to do with creating it 5/12/2015 1:05:36 PM |

I started Grace and Frankie, I'm a few episodes into it. I love all of the main cast members (which is why I wanted to see it int he first place) but it has kind of been hit and miss so far. The two men are great on screen as friends but there is no chemistry in their relationship.
The #1 reason to watch the show is Lily Tomlin. Anytime she is alone on screen it is pure comedic gold and makes all of the awkward moments worth getting through. I also thoroughly enjoy the scenes involving their kids, it really is a fantastic ensemble cast. 5/12/2015 1:24:55 PM |

These aren't every going to leave Netflix, correct? I can't imagine they would, since they are originals. I just didn't know if there was every a potential for them having a shelf-life.
I plan on getting around to:
Peaky Blinders Chef's Table Daredevil Bloodline
And that's pretty much it for now. What about Luther? Was that a Netflix Original? Or did it just seem like they advertised it as one. I definitely want to see that one as well. 5/12/2015 1:38:57 PM |

Netflix will be producing a mini-series adaptation of "A Series of Unfortunate Events." Rumor is Neil Patrick Harris will be playing Count Olaf. I am very happy about this, and hoping it will redeem the mediocre film from 12 years ago with Jim Carrey. 1/27/2016 4:58:42 AM |

So lets take Daredevil.
This season you have 13 episodes to get into the minutia between him and all the secondary characters. Some of the interaction between him and Punisher is the most interesting dialogue I've ever seen. It was literally 20 solid minutes of awesome.
I don't think you can take the same situations, story, or conflict and make it as compelling in movie format.
Therefor, if you have a really good set of characters and stories, why would you want to take them to the big screen when you can get so much more done creatively on Netflix or similar entertainment vehicles. 3/23/2016 4:06:53 PM |

So Will Smith has a direct-to-Netflix movie coming out. This seems like a pretty big fall for Smith, but his career has been trending down in recent years. 2/28/2017 10:42:06 AM |
Money_Jones Ohhh Farts 12521 Posts user info edit post |
I wont argue that Smith has been going down hill, but I would attribute this just as much to how far Netflix is rising. The movie also stars Joel Edgerton Noomi Rapace, and is directed by David Ayer, it's a legitimate movie, not like it's not like it's a SyFy original or anything. A Netflix movie just won best documentary short Oscar. 2/28/2017 11:58:01 AM |

So I just got finished watching Mindhunter, and I’m very curious what other people thought. I’m kind of divided about it, I enjoyed each episode while I was watching it, but overall I just felt like I was waiting for something that never happened, and looking back the whole series seems almost pointless. I was also very confused fused by the acting of the main character Holden. I don’t necessarily think it was bad acting, but I found it very bizarre, it almost looked as if he was about to bust out laughing at any given moment, and could not tell at all what emotions he was trying to convey. 10/15/2017 8:10:34 PM |

i'm almost finished with staircase...i think 2 eps left to watch. it's interesting, but honestly...if i wasn't from NC and didn't already know parts of the story and didn't recognize news clips and faces from that era in this region...i don't think i would care for it very much. that's part of what i like the most about it, the familiar faces and my (somewhat) familiarity with the case...if i came in with limited or no prior knowledge and didn't have any tie to NC, i would surely have a different opinion on it. it does seem like this could've been done in maybe 8 episodes, not 13. seems very very biased toward the defense. but maybe those are just my own biases coming into play here. it's definitely not bad...i'm mostly enjoying it (although it does drag on at times, imo). but it's not great, imo
