'We've been trying to get that movie made for 30 years, and I think we're getting closer and closer. Don (Simpson, fellow producer) and I tried to develop something; we didn't succeed. Cruise took over, and he tried to develop something, and he didn't succeed. Now we're back at it.' Screenwriter Marks, whose previous credits include Street Fighter and upcoming Disney adaptation The Jungle Book, was thought to be in discussion with Paramount over the script last August. They'll prob have a new cast of young pilots played by Michael B. Jordan/one of the Hemsworth brothers/etc. and a generic hot girl. It will be forgettable at best.

I FUCKING HATE THIS CONCEPT. Background: I'm a Naval Aviator who flew P-3C Orions, Taught primary flight training, and is going to Fly MQ-4C Tritons ('drones'). I will graduate with my Masters in a week from the Air Force Command and Staff College who primarily teaches theories of airpower.

When 'drones' become fully autonomous I'm willing to have this debate, but we've been flying unmanned aircraft since the 80's. And if you want to get really technical, both sides messed around with the concept in WWII. It's not new, and it doesn't particularly drive a culture shift.

NOPE. That was the case like 20 years ago, but I have multiple friends that are required to wear corrective lenses in the aircraft. Also, lots of folks get one of the two surgeries (Lasik or PRK).

I have a USMC buddy who couldn't become a pilot because of eyesight...maybe was an astigmatism? So he rides around the back (of a Prowler) now instead.

I guess the argument that's going to be presented in Top Gun 2 is that a pilot needs to be in the plane, not in some container in Arizona or wherever right?
