i heard that there will be new deals that start at midnight July 15, with additional deals popping up every 10 minutes. Unfortunately Amazon has yet to offer any sneak peeks on what products will earn discounts during Prime Day. 7/6/2015 1:06:42 PM

cheaper if you use your .edu address. Also, you can share prime with a few people, so it's easily worth it. 7/6/2015 10:30:22 PM

Even at $100 it pays for itself in no time if you do a lot of online shopping.
And don't forget the video, music etc that comes with it.

We have prime. We definitely take advantage of the music. The movies are so so - no better or worse than netflix. But next day shipping for 4.99? And free 2 day shipping? Can't beat that. I don't have a Kindle so I can't take advantage of the book portion, but that seems like a deal too. 7/7/2015 8:34:40 AM

Even if you were just to use the streaming and figure it's worth 8 or 9 bucks a month that alone pays for the membership. Then you get all the free music, the free shipping, subscription purchasing on frequently used items, their panty program, etc.
It saves me a ton of money to buy stuff on Amazon and have it shipped for free vs. buying things here in Hawaii. The cost of goods is so high here compared to Amazon it's a no brainer. 7/8/2015 4:06:41 PM

If you have an iPad (or maybe even a Samsung tablet or some other brand), there's a kindle app you can download and use your tablet as an e-reader if that's your thing. 7/9/2015 8:11:25 PM

Walmart is kinda missing part of the point. I don't think Amazon is doing this prime day to make money, or even really get a bunch of new subscribers. I'm sure that is part of it, but it is also a thank you to the current prime members.
And sure, you shouldn't have to pay $100/year to get great deals, but I'm not paying $100 to get good deals, I'm paying it to get free 2 day shipping, free music, movies, and other things.
And maybe Walmart doesn't want you to pay $100/year to get good deals, but they sure as hell want you to pay $50/year to get mediocre deals at Sam's Club. 7/13/2015 1:15:11 PM

Target's weekly ad this week was also "Black Friday in July". But I didn't see any good deals.
And I love this idea. It's a great way to get new members. But even without it, it's not like I don't make 1-2 amazon purchases a week. It's so much easier to take advantage of free shipping and better prices than if I tried to find something in person.
When I'm in Atlanta, the Amazon Now is even better. Shipment by 10pm on the day it was ordered. You really can't beat that. 7/13/2015 2:31:25 PM

I tried getting the wipes deal (60% off) for my sister, and even though they were still "in stock" and I had applied the coupon code, no dice at checkout.
Everything else I tried for was "sold out" even though I clicked on it the second it was supposed to be available.
