After probably 10+ years of well over $100/month, I'm probably in the $50-75 range right now on average. A lot less "going out" and a lot less "it's Friday, better go pick up a case just because" has led to that. It's been nice waking up on Saturdays and Sundays not feeling like shit to be honest. I could see it going below $50 in the near future. 7/9/2015 9:46:45 AM

$100-200 seems about right. Though there are definitely factors that can cause that to fluctuate. 7/9/2015 9:50:51 AM

Is this where a bunch of 30 somethings brag about how much they still drink?

Probably around $50 most months. Been a little higher lately after spending a few weekends at the beach and stocking up on more alcohol than usual. 7/9/2015 10:13:52 AM

Probably in the $50 to $80 range now.
My body just doesnt let me drink like i used to. Ive gone from no hangover to being incapacitated for an entire day is i over do it.
I have less time to sit around being worthlessness. Just no time to sit around drinking
Im trying to live a healthier lifestyls as my metabolism slows. More gym, and eating better. Less drinking and blow.
Im more comfortable now drinking less, but of better quality; as opposed to ripping through a case of miller lite 7/9/2015 10:22:13 AM

Still too high. Cheap Trader Joe's wine helps. Not going out as much, but at the very least, spend $50 going out to a brunch and/or brewery on Sundays. So that's $200 a month. Will still "go out" bi-weekly to a dinner or event (spent $45 last night going to a local bar to we could hit up a lobster truck that was there). So will just say that's maybe $35 every two weeks...$70/month.
So we're sitting at $270 before we look at our wine/beer purchases that we drink at home. I'll say we drink 3.5 bottles of wine a week. 14 bottles/month, average $6.5/bottle, averages about $90/month in wine. Beer is tough because sometimes I go big and pick up some rare bottles, but we mostly try to keep a six pack of a good IPA. I'd say those 6-packs average around $11. Sometimes the 6pack will sit for a bit if we just drink wine or make a cocktail, sometimes its gone in a week. I'll say we go through maybe 2.5 6-packs a month. So if that's $27 for the IPA, bump it up to $30 a month just to include a big bottle purchase every now and then.
$270 going out + $90 wine + $30 beer = $390/month.
Was worried it was going to be more. I might be overestimating the "going out" portion and putting more food prices into the total.

Amateur hour up in here
I spend a lot on alcohol but I just moved downtown and have been going out a ton. I actually have a $25 a day "entertainment" allowance built into my monthly budget. That's not to say I use it all on alcohol - it includes concert tickets, eating out (often), pool ball rentals, bowling fees, etc. Anything I don't use goes into savings.
I'd say I normally spend $150 a month on alcohol to keep at the house for myself and whoever comes over, and then another $300 (or more) or so for when I'm out. Winning in trivia tends to offset this some during the week. I'm also bad about drinking whatever I feel like, regardless of cost.
It's tapering off somewhat as the novelty of living downtown is wearing off and I'm becoming a little more health conscious (i.e. getting a beer belly and trying to get rid of that). I'm also 28 and single so it kind of goes with the territory if you're an extrovert.

I'm better off when I spend more. It means I'm being social and enjoying myself.
If I manage to get the budget in check, it's cause a half gallon of Five O'clock vodka costs $12.95. 7/9/2015 2:05:40 PM

kind of in this same boat in the sense that I don't go out and drink my ass off on Friday and Saturdays anymore
only difference is I probably spend the same amount, just on less beer
gotten into the habit of going out once or twice during the week and having 3 really good beers per outing, as opposed to a bunch of PBR downtown on weekends 7/9/2015 3:13:03 PM

Probably $50-80. I drink 1-2 beers with dinner during the week and 3-4 (sometimes more) on the weekends. I'm with the 'my metabolism can't handle it' camp. It's hard enough resisting all the donuts and cinnamon rolls they're bringing in several times a week at the office.
The way I drink has changed too. I like wine for some things, beer for others. Not a big liquor drinker. And I used to drink a lot of Michelob Ultra to save calories, but it tastes like ass and makes me feel bloated. I'd rather drink less beer with a better taste than a lot of low-calorie shit beer. 7/9/2015 3:15:27 PM
