What type of modem do I need when that speed upgrade comes?

Get the 6141, not the 6121.

I started having some issues w/ my 6121 two weeks ago. After hours of troubleshooting with TWC, I finally said fuck it and got a 6141.

but make sure to disable builtin firewall, wifi and dhcp, and change nat to bridge. but then it's the bomb

So apparently to get 300Mbps, only 4 modems are supported:


Arris/Motorola SB6183
Netgear C6300
Netgear CM500-100NAS
SMC Networks D3CM1604

I have the Arris DG1607A and a TWC rep told me just a few minutes ago that it was good up through 300 mbps.

I was also told the upgrade would happen on 9/9/2015 for my location off Trailwood Hills in south Raleigh.

My friend's husband can't stop talking about how they supposedly just upgraded to the fastest Internet ever. They have an Arris SB6141.

They switched from Clearwire so his enthusiasm is understandable.

But now I don't know if I should tell him about Walter's link.

so my u-verse contract expires soon... they are actually laying AT&T fiber in my neighborhood, but it looks like the TWC upgraded internet speeds are going to be much faster for my price point. I think i'm going to switch back to them. (i'm getting rid of cable tv all together so programming is not a factor in my decision)

For me, until they upgrade the upload speeds, this giving you faster internets is just a gimmick.

eh, i upload way less than I download.

so if you guys come across a deal on the "big 4" cable modems listed by TWC, post them up here. I need to get one between now and August 8th. (looking to pay as far below 100 bucks as possible... wireless router is already covered so I don't need a combo.)

Yeah, and that's the case for almost everyone. Calling faster download speeds a gimmick is pretty silly, even if you upload often, cause I bet you download more often

Also the uploads are going up 400-500% for all non-basic plans

the internet i got from them at my current house was always solid, and never once blinked except for the one or two times the power went out our first 6 years. our speedtests always rated above what we were paying for.

with u-verse over the past year we are consistently rating below the advertised speed and once my 1-year deal is over, i'll be paying a ton more for a significantly worse service than what i had with TWC.

and now that TWC is boosting their speeds significantly for the same price it's a no-brainer. we are getting fiber lines in our neighborhood currently, but the pricing structure doesn't offer anything in the "sweet spot" i'm looking for.
