I AM SO HAPPY! It was in the 60s a few mornings when I left for work last week and the air is crisp and beautiful and not humid and delicious smelling and I'm so excited and it's supposed to be 90 most of this week and fuck that shit

Yeah, but most days when I've gotten off work, it's been in the mid-low 80s, not 90s... it's something

Fall is the Mondays of seasons... it's the alarm clock at 5AM. Fall is the realization you can't go hiking, have cookouts, go to the beach, or just generally be outside. Fall is the reminder that Winter is coming, when you're holed up inside, all the trees die, you can't go anywhere without bundling up first, pretty much doing anything outside is a pain in the ass in Winter and Fall is what reminds you of that. 8/31/2015 1:07:47 AM |

So fall is bad because it means winter is coming. Yet, fall is worse than winter? Great logic...
If you wanted to say Fall is Sunday, and Winter is Monday, you'd actually have a legitimate argument. Instead, we're all dumber from reading that post.

Summer is the weekend, Fall is Monday, Winter is Tuesday-Thursday, Spring is Friday.
Winter is less worse than Fall, because you accept your fate by then, and at least have the possibility of snow and Christmas to look forward to. 8/31/2015 1:22:05 AM |

I hear ya, but it still sounds like Winter is your least favorite season.
And we've got the Caribbean for that yo.
So, if anything, Fall should remind you of your Caribbean Christmas plans. To prepare, you'll need to study up on rum and eye your mailbox for resort wear catalogues. Cause when you're Christmas drunk in St. John, you need floral print shorts and leather sandals. Shirt is optional. And I would do a great deal of sober reflection before purchasing that panama hat. Resort wear is serious business. 8/31/2015 1:26:04 AM |

Spring and fall are definitely the best seasons, because they have the best weather. Summer is great, if you're a student. For most people, summer just means you have to get up and go to work, and it's also hot as fuck outside.

Because hiking in the dead of summer, when it's 98 degrees outside, is the most awesome thing ever. This is the most absurd comment I think I've ever seen from moron, and if you hang out in TSB any, you see a lot of absurd comments from moron.
Fall is great for fishing, hiking, camping, etc. This is the season where you get all that shit out of your system before the cold hits. And isn't there something cozy about being inside when it's so cold outside anyway?

Did you not go outside the past 3 months and sweat your balls off just walking around? Summer is terrible (but I work outside, so maybe it's just me). Fall is amazing because you get a break from the heat, then you have nfl Monday nights so Monday doesn't suck so bad, and then nfl on Thursday so Thursday doesn't suck so bad. Then it's almost the weekend where you can watch college football and then nfl again. Also, my birthday is in October, and the world series. I would take the winter over the summer 9/10 times, with just the 1/10 for the beach. Summer sucks. 9/23/2015 12:45:31 PM |

yes.
summer is the most overrated bullshit. i think most people like summer because when they were kids they got out of school. and the summer reminds them of those fun, carefree memories. but when you're an adult you don't get the summer off. you just get to go to work in 90-100 degree weather. and, sure, it's the time of year when people go to the pool and go to the beach. but the entire reason for going to the pool is because it's hot as fuck and the pool is an attempt at not being hot as fuck. there's no ungodly heat to seek shelter from in the other seasons, so there's no need to go to gross public pools. and the beach is fun. but it's still hot as fuck at the beach in the summer. i'd prefer to go to the beach in the spring and/or fall because it's less crowded and it's perfectly comfortable outside. in order to not be uncomfortably hot at the beach in summer you have to be nearly naked and drinking ice cold beverages while the waves wash over your feet. which, i admit, is pretty great. but that's basically the only thing summer has going in it's favor. it's otherwise a hot, sticky, sweaty, stinky mess with mosquitoes everywhere. y'all wanna have cookouts in the summer? fuck your summer cookout. nobody wants to stand outside around a hot grill and eat hot food when it's 100 degrees outside.
summer is bullshit and i'm glad it's ending.

It is just so very nice to be able to go running outside without the 97 degree weather.
I detest treadmills for several reasons: -It is depressing to me to be running in place
-Running is über boring to me without changing scenery at which to look. No, TV doesn't really help.
-Once, in high school, I was on the treadmill and I must have stepped on the side of the treadmill. I fell. Hard. Skinned my knee, and arm. Fuck that.
So yeah, treadmills are out, unless it's raining....or super hot....or snowy/icy outside. Elliptical are meh for me. This, combined with my dog's love of running drives me outside when it is hot in the summer....or cold in the winter.
But spring and fall....my favorites

that article is complete shit^^
Quote : | "Fall is the only season after which the next is definitely worse." |
entire premise of the article is already fucked...it admits right there that winter is worse than fall. bullshit article, fall wins.
furthermore
Quote : | "It all starts with the back-to-school feeling, a sensation beloved by freaks. This feeling is prim, ambitious, organized, high-strung, pedantic and subtly deviant if sustained over time." |
you should only have a "back to school" feeling if you're either in school (or a teacher, i suppose) or you delude yourself each year into thinking that the summer is some sort of break from work. it's not.
Quote : | " But fall asks you to go do farm work. I’ll go apple picking at the 7/11 or go fuck myself, buddy! Hand me your Steinbeck and save that hay ride for yourself! " |
if you don't like picking apples and hayrides then don't participate in those activities, i love fall and i've never picked apples. enjoy the weather. after all, that's the most distinct factor of each season. i'd argue that the main reason hayrides are popular is because of the weather. if it was 100 degrees nobody would get on a fucking trailer and sit on an itchy hay bale. it's just more proof that people wanna do outside stuff in fall and make up excuses to just enjoy the beautiful fall weather. i also would like to point out that this ignores other "pick your own" seasons...strawberries and blueberries, in particular, are spring and summer seasons, which are warmer and make that work more difficult.
Quote : | "You’re right. Fall is uncontroversially, celestially beautiful—the light trapping each afternoon in slow amber, the sensation of aerated translucence, the furious roosterish gradation of the leaves. Two years ago, I lived in a pale blue duplex in Michigan with a Japanese maple in the front lawn. Its plumage, always colored within the autumn schematic, would grow especially sharp, super-saturated, for a few weeks during fall. Blood-red, it would switch and shiver right outside my window in the wind, and I loved it, and I would go to sleep loving it, and then I’d wake up one morning with a debauched murder mattress of feather-leaves on my sidewalk and above it, a skeleton tree." |
1) so we agree that the weather is beautiful? because that's like 99% of what makes a season good or bad. 2) plant some evergreens.
like i said, 99% of what makes a season good or bad is the weather. everything else is just things you do because of the weather in that particular season. people like fireplaces and reading books under a blanket in the winter because it's too damn cold to do anything else. people like to go to the beach and pool in the summer because it's damn hot to do anything else. the spring and fall are the best seasons for being able to go outside and not be unbearably hot or cold. you don't have to do anything to enjoy a beautiful fall or spring day. you have to be at the beach or pool or somewhere refreshing to enjoy a summer day. and you have to be inside (with the exception of winter sports like skiing or something) to enjoy a winter day. y'all hating on fall are confusing the activities associated with certain seasons with the actual seasons, imo.
i will defend fall (and rail on summer) as long as i live.
