can't find it at any best buys , would like to see the size before i plunk down $400 for it. any one else have it on display/ in stock locally ?

it's about the same width as previous moto x's. if size is the only thing you're worried about, most phones nowadays are +/- the same size. i don't blame you for wanting to dick around with it in person, but size-wise, it's just gonna be slightly bigger than the previous moto x's, but not a cumbersome extra width increase
