My dog has been going in the back yard and keeps coming in with these strange insects. I looked at the Morth Carolina register of insects and couldn't find it. Curious if anyone here can identify it.

Just looking at some common NC insects, it looks like some variant of a pond skater/water strider. Not sure exactly which or what specific species.
Is there some calm body of water near your house in the way of a pond or small lake or something?

That sounds rather scary.
I'll checked out the NC page on them and they sound painful. I don't want to prevent the pup from going outside but not sure I want those on her. 12/10/2015 9:32:33 PM |
