right, of course - I don't object to people selling things. I'm 100% a-okay with people producing objects and then exchanging them for money.

but I don't like how large corporations show a kindly Santa, and happy families gathered around Christmas trees, when what they really want is for people to buy a $600 smartphone

I get that this is completely inevitable, but it just grates on me that the spirit of Christmas is harnessed by large corporations to hawk merchandise

Thank goodness for Christmas shopping. People constantly think the economy is in shambles so they don't spend which makes things worse because no one is earning and that makes everyone assume the economy is even worse and so on. This is the one time of year people are willing to spend their savings and gives more life to the economy (and the giving to those in need is at it's highest too, which thankfully there's one time you can rely on guilt for those things to happen).

But for me, the worst thing is everyone assuming Hanukkah is as important to Jews as Christmas is to you people. Your holiday has infringed upon the meaning and ritual of my holiday because Jewish kids would feel miserable this time of year if they weren't getting presents.
