Gonna be in NOLA during the last weekend of Mardi Gras for a bachelor party. Anybody have any suggestions for activities for the group other than boozin it up and partying hard?
I've never been, so I have no idea if there is anything to put on the itinerary other than Shots! and beads.

Did I post this in chit chat?
Are there like some cool bars, underground vampire blood drinking voodoo shows or something? Some non touristy stuff. 1/4/2016 1:29:05 PM |

speaking of New Orleans, remember that time Herb suspended you for a game, then your first game back was against Tulane and you dunked the ball
that was pretty sweet 1/4/2016 3:14:05 PM |

Gawd THOSE WERE THE DAYS.
I fucking love Herb. He really knew how to party.
So any other good suggestions or tips for NOLA other than getting Skol Fucked (actually a pretty sweet marketing phrase for that shitty vodka), and that Mardi Gras is gonna be crowded? 1/4/2016 4:18:31 PM |

Cafe du Monde for beignets
The casino wasn't bad and free drinks while you play
That's all I got, I wasn't overly impressed when I went two years ago 1/4/2016 4:32:20 PM |

You are going to New Orleans for one of the most touristy times in the whole country and you want non-touristy stuff?
But based on a bunch of eps of Cops, my advice is don't pull out your pens or you'll get arrested. Boobs good balls bad.1/4/2016 4:44:17 PM |

^^
Just because its a touristy weekend doesn't mean the non touristy stuff goes away man... The vampires still gotta drink that blood and the voodoo docs still have to shrink heads dawg.
^^^
Thanks for the tips, definitely plan on hitting the casino.

I'm just saying nobody goes to NO on Mardi Gras to do non touristy stuff
And after bourbon St, du monde and casino are 2nd and 3rd most touristy things you can do
But to try to be helpful, on the note of still touristy but fun, bayou croc tour (if you have a car). We had a pretty good time. Do afternoon though, we scheduled a 10am and lucked out with traffic that made us realize how hung over we were, after lunch was much better. Also get a covered boat if you have the option.

Eat like 17,000 pralines for me please. We went to a bar called lafittes (?) that was all candlelit and had a piano player in a dark dank corner. On the other hand they had a slurpee machine ugly monkey style (is that place still around?). I have heard the graveyard tours are pretty cool. 1/5/2016 1:32:39 AM |

Also most of the swamp boat tours will pick you up from the hotel and you can bring beer.
Frenchman's street for music instead of Bourbon is always fun. Also the oldest bar there is Blacksmith's I think, on bourbon just past the gay district is really cool.
Drink, Eat and have fun. 1/5/2016 3:50:43 PM |

I was there the other week.
Coops in the French quarter is a good place to eat and is 21+ (So no kids). Great Cajun food.
Don't do the cafe du mont shit.
If you insist on being on bourbon st Lafittes is a good place to hang out.
Bywater and everything along Magazine street is decent enough. 1/5/2016 4:02:45 PM |

If you want to take a little drive go check out Abita Springs. Pretty cool little town and the brewery is there. There is also this weird little museum in the middle of town that is worth checking out. Quite the departure from tits and crowded downtown streets but I thought it was worth the trip. 1/5/2016 9:03:43 PM |

Buy some beads that light up from an online site - $2-$3 per necklace now can save you $Texas down there. We spent $200-$300 on our illuminated/flashy stash and it was worth EVERY penny. Also, buy some cheap plastic beads to give out after your transaction.. the look of disappointment when they don't get the ones that light up is priceless.
Every time I leave that place I swear I'll never go back.. but then Dec/Jan rolls around each year and I start looking at flights, etc. Best place to celebrate a bachelor party, hands down. 1/6/2016 11:26:33 AM |

Tell me more about these "light up beads"... what did "$200-300" dollas worth of light up beads get you? Nicer titty flash?
Might do this compound bow fishing trip.
