So, I know this is a really oddball request, but I cannot find anything on the internet to help, and I went to a local lighting place today and the repairman was unsure. Here is my situation:

I have an NC State pool table light like this (but with three lights): http://www.amazon.com/State-University-Light-Table-Style/dp/B0017P94DG

We have to get rid of our pool table because it takes up too much space, and we haven't played in a long time. I do not want to get rid of the light, but instead would like to turn it into three individual lamps, similar to this: http://www.amazon.com/State-University-Wide-Table-Style/dp/B001722O68

The problem is that the pool table shades are supported by the top and the lamps' shades would obviously have to be supported at at the bottom. The only thing I can think of would be something that would mount to the top a normal lamp base and have arms go out in 3 or 4 directions that the shade would then sit in/on. The guy at the light store said that he could solder or weld something on there (maybe) but then it would be really difficult to convert it back into a pool table light in the future.

So I figured I would see if any of you guys had ever seen something like this, or know the name of the piece of hardware I need to start a lamp conversion. Thanks for anything that could be helpful.

Most lamp shades are supported at the top with a simple screw cap.
I would think this would be an easy conversion.

The problem here is that the opening at the top of the glass shade is about 3 inches, so a typical lamp harp wont do it. However, I think I may have found a solution: http://173.201.35.32/Instructions/69405.pdf
