If Gott can convince everyone to stay but Cat, I'll consider that a success. Would be nice to have a good number of juniors and seniors for once. 1/24/2016 10:31:37 AM |

I don't know who else would leave. Kirk? Abu isn't ready to go pro yet.. Anya and Freeman will be seniors so that doesn't really make sense.. The Martins have played a lot for two years and should keep playing. I would guess Henderson and Dorn wouldn't go anywhere before playing and having already transferred. And I can't find anything about Cat anywhere (not that that really means anything) so unless he's jumping to Europe.. 1/24/2016 10:43:36 AM |

^ I doubt that. For some reason people think marginal pros are making bank in Europe. Simply not true . 1/24/2016 5:02:18 PM |

I'm pretty sure they can get draft insurance thats worth about the same as a season in europe if they were to get hurt their senior year. Also, the premium is paid afterwards. 1/24/2016 5:02:33 PM |

average salary of a Euro bball player (per google) is $65k-$100k
however that's often untaxed, so more like a domestic $80k-$130k
And I think the cost of living is often lower there as well
--
The D-League is what pays the shit salary. Like $20k-$25k per season

That's misleading. It doesn't include the many leagues in Europe where guys don't make shit.
I honestly have no idea the details of Lacey's contract. 1/24/2016 5:18:05 PM |

per some former player / current lawyer
Quote : | "The worst part about basketball players staying in the USA and playing in the D-league is the fact that most D-league salaries range from only $12,000 to $24,000. Average overseas players can get a $65,000 contract with ease. Depending on the league that players get into in Europe, salaries can start as high as $100,000. Not only is there a big discrepancy between the salaries, but the money made in Europe is typically tax free. The club oftentimes will pay your taxes to the country you are playing in. That American who is playing overseas may also receive credit with the United States government for paying their taxes. Further, most European clubs commonly pay for a player’s living expenses. That includes providing a player with a car and lodging. So the player in Europe can be saved from taxes and the more expensive living expenses." |
so you make good money (not NBA-good, but pretty good) and don't have to pay for anything else except like food and clothes
