^that's the advice they give teachers during an active shooter situation.

First hide then run, and if the shooter comes into the room we are allowed to fight them. In the video they showed a teacher picking up a desk and throwing it at the shooter...I guess we also need to start working on our upper body strength.

First run away if possible, if not possible find a place to hide until escape is possible or you are rescued, and if neither are possible then fight your way out of the situation

The DHS has a guide for how to respond in the event of an active shooter, and that little phrase is supposed to help remind people reading it of their training.

For instance, did you know that in the event you're in an office and people are shooting and you're hiding under your desk, you should squat on the floor rather than lay on the floor as ricochets will have a tendency to travel along the surface? Better to just get shot in the ankle rather than right in the organs.

I think we were supposed to keep a printed copy of it handy just in case we heard gunshots or were put into lockdown.

i remember in the Air Force active shooter training, they talked about throwing shit at the shooter if they find you. They suggested books, staplers. Basically anything that would distract them for enough time for you to get out or somehow disarm them.
