I guess I am cool with it as long as it is kept under control. My brother in-law had a birthday party at one of the non-restaurant micro breweries one time and everyone brought their toddlers. It was a little much and wrecked the atmosphere. 2/22/2016 3:44:07 PM

Unless the kid is being a nuisance I don't see why this should be a problem. Its hard enough to have a social life starting out as a parent.
Plus, bars are some of the best places to take little ones. Most bars are drunk-proof, which typically trumps kid proofing. No big glass sculptures or expensive pieces of glass to destroy, drinks in plastic cups when requested, easily cleanable tables and floors, several games to play, lots of TVs, good music and its typically loud as shit anyways, so my screaming toddler is less likely to piss someone off.
Some of my favorites bars/brewers even cater to young kids and have fenced in outdoor areas with games, buckets of chalk, several corn hole boards and a few kid friendly bar options like juice/soda and snacks. 2/22/2016 3:57:54 PM

I really just want to say Nope as a general policy.
There are too many shitty parents out there that just let their child(ren) run rampant where ever they are without giving two shits about the other patrons.
Granted their are parents that do have quiet and well behaved kids but that seems to be a growing minority.
So nope. Bars are for adults, as is any 'restaurant' after around 10pm when they're open until 2am...because then they're in bar mode.

That's one of our usual spots to take our boys. The staff and regulars tend to be exceptionally welcoming to well behaved kids on the patio. 2/22/2016 4:07:37 PM

I take mine to a "bar" like once every other month, but it's during trivia at 7PM and pretty much everybody knows her, so sometimes she'll go to a couple different tables. There's no way I'd take her to the Goat ever, or pretty much any bar past 9-10PM unless I really had to run in there for a second. 2/22/2016 4:11:43 PM

one time at Sammy's some young parents brought their infant baby in a carrier and put it on their table and both parents were smoking around it the whole time. everyone was looking at them like wtf but then they decided to change the baby on the table and staff asked them to leave.
generally, I'm against children at the bar but if they're well behaved and it's a reasonable hour to be getting food then whatever. however, don't bring your kid to the bar area of a sports bar when Sunday football is on and expect me to watch my language. same goes for outdoor seating at a bar and asking people not to smoke - don't bring your kid around people smoking, it's a bar not a Chuckie Cheeses. I don't smoke but it goes with the territory of a bar. 2/22/2016 4:13:14 PM

My child is asleep after 8:30 PM, so I guess there is a time aspect to consider with this question. Am I against babbys@bars? No. Am I against babbys@bars after 10 PM when the "nightlife" crowd is out? Absolutely. That said, I take my baby to bars during the day and if you've got a problem with it, come say it to my face, tough guy.

I don't have a problem with infants in bars when their parents are comfortable with it, so long as they aren't exposed to smoke. Young babies can usually sleep anywhere for the most part, and I've known a few people to occasionally take their baby out in a carrier so the mom could DD the dad from a party or the like. I don't think anyone should make a habit of it, but occasionally it's fine.
When they get older and start being louder or wandering around, eh.
And if you're going to tell anyone to change their behavior because your kid is there, nope. You can stay home, get a sitter, or go to Applebee's. 2/22/2016 4:36:50 PM

I don't mind hanging out with the bar kids.
I mean, they should obviously be at home in bed somewhere, but since they're not, you might as well watch them whip/nae nae and ask them about their favorite movie. If they're younger, you can teach them the twist, the sprinkler, the shopping cart...kids need to know these things. 2/22/2016 5:33:16 PM

I kinda have more of an issue with dogs than babies at bars these days. My neighborhood is annoyingly obsessed with being "dog friendly" so everyone brings their dogs with them to bars and restaurants.
I mean, I actually like dogs much, much more than babies, but it can be annoying to have a bunch of dogs running around when you're just trying to grab a beer or enjoy dinner.
Dog people are just as bad as parents when it comes to being delusional and thinking 100% of everyones loves their dog and think it's the greatest thing ever.
And no, I'm not a cat person.

It is not all about getting to drunk to parent. Bars are full of drunk people that socialize with you, which consequently takes more of your attention away from a kid that is in a spot where the likelihood of somebody doing or saying something inappropriate is much higher than normal.
Just get somebody to watch your kid. This thread is stupid. 6/10/2016 3:07:33 PM
