Happy Juneteenth.

I can see how it's conflicting. I choose to look at it as them celebrating the day that ALL Americans were free from bondage. Conversely, I feel slighted when I hear tapioca shaded people complain about Juneteenth being a wasted holiday, or hear them complain about how it competes with the 4th of July.

Wife and I slept in, then cooked a nice breakfast. Went to catch a movie, then relaxed at home a bit. Cooked a pesto scallop pasta for dinner. Ended the day hanging out on the back deck with the puppers.

How much are you guys paying for haircuts these days? How often do you go to the barber?


I used to go every 2 weeks like clockwork.
As a kid, $15 + tip got me a cut.
As a young man, $20 + tip got me right and tight.

These days, I find myself going about every 3 weeks. A full cut is $36, and with tip it is $41. At the risk of sounding like an old man yelling at clouds, that cut seems so pricey. I know inflation is a thing, but goddammit. I might have to start rocking a fro again.

What? Wow. You're hearing people say that? And they are knowingly saying in the presence of non-tapioca shaded people? Either way, that's even worse than I expected. Gross.

I'm, like, almost the only non-right-wing person at my work. Maybe a small handful of others out of maybe 30-40 people who are, I think, pretty centrist like me. Probably nobody is genuinely significantly left-leaning. Everyone else, to my knowledge, is full-on way out there on the right...and even I haven't even heard the line about it competing with 4th of July! I honestly didn't know that was a talking point. I don't even think I've heard "wasted holiday".

Really, I haven't heard all that much commentary on it, other than maybe a touch of derision that I read as "fine, whatever, slavery was bad and all, but I still roll my eyes just slightly because this is a woke pussy liberal holiday...but I'm down with a day off."

I just let my hair 'fro out since Covid. I get it cleaned up and get a fresh edge up every other month and it's about $50 + tip which includes the beard and a wash/rinse. There are cheaper places, but with this I'm paying for the quality and consistency, so I know my hairline isn't gonna be wrecked. That piece of mind is priceless.

a razor maybe every 4 or 5 cuts is ~ $0.50, so ~$0.50 when supplies are factored in. I do it in the shower
