We either need more babies or more immigrants or we need to re-design our economy.

Income hasn't kept pace with inflation.

Childcare is a god damn mortgage, and mortgage is so insane that a two-income household is a necessity.

Could I move out to BFE, pay half as much for a home, commute an hour to work, and afford a second child? Sure. But that's not the life I choose to live.

We basically live in BFE, pay 1100 mortgage and 1200 daycare per month.

Here are a couple of good write-ups on income vs. home prices:

https://www.cnbc.com/2017/06/23/how-much-housing-prices-have-risen-since-1940.html
https://www.cnbc.com/2016/03/24/home-prices-rising-faster-than-wages-report.html

You can apply much of the same thinking to children and childcare. Read: Americans aren't having kids because they can't afford to have kids (or don't want to afford to).

Pelosi should be recalled and denied to ever run for any office again. She is an obstructionist, petty, and afraid that the American people will hear the truth about the policies and agenda her party has done to weaken and divide our nation.

Donald Trump is a light that shines on the soul of every American. He doesn't cause the reaction, he reveals the soul of the person. In this case, Pelosi, or Nancy as Trump refers to her, is soulless. And to you Trump-hating bigots, if he is able to elicit the hatred and bias in you, the problem is you, not him. We elected him to change Washington. Democrats especially are fighting tooth and nail to protect their power and keep us distracted as they sell out our nation. I'm ashamed of anyone who puts the blame on Trump who is doing what we elected him to do, and you dislike him because he tweets and gives back as good as he gets. We're not rolling over anymore. Trump will be reelected in 2020 because we've seen how evil Democrats are."

I don’t think you’ll hear a lot of staunch supporters based on things he’s done. I think for most educated people it comes down to the alternative outcome would have been worse.

If you vote for the Trump you're OK with racist and homophobic policies. How about that. Although it's essentially the same thing I guess.

I feel like another factor that I often overlook is ignorance. I have at least one family member who isn't racist but is oblivious to how racist the Trump administration is, how racist the Trump 2016 presidential campaign was, how drawn to Donald Trump racists are and how comfortable he's made people feel with regard to their own racism.

I had this conversation with a friend who is generally good at providing some insight to the right wing viewpoint. He typically votes republican/conservative because all he cares about is money policy, and there's never a good libertarian candidate.

I asked him if he thought that people voting for trump was them implicitly being ok with sexual assault and racism and treason.

his response was that it's not necessarily that they're ok with all these things, they just voted for him because he was the option to end abortion and the affordable care act. which i somewhat get, because i didn't support all of hillary's plans, but voted for her because she aligned with more things that are important to me. but at least she didn't brag about the crimes she committed.

and also, i think a lot of democrats/liberals have so much anger because of all the obvious double standards that trump supporters just refuse to admit are happening.

they wanted to lock hillary up for emails, but kushner and ivanka do the exact same thing and its just ignored.

and just a side note, trump has a small dick, and i really wish more reporters would either ask him about his small dick, or start every question with "so how did your small dick affect your decision to [...]?"

How are Trump's policies on prison reform racist? Why does he repeatedly meet with black leaders in the White House?

I really don't get the conspiracy theory, is he doing all these things for minorities to hide some huge agenda to cover building concentration camps?

Think about who trump is. If he's talking prison reform, it's to make himself or his cronies money. It has nothing to do with who is unjustly placed in the prison.

the only time he's gotten black people out of prison is when a celebrity asked him to because he wishes he had their fame

How would you explain the "good people on both sides" comment? There's no gray area there. He openly supported Nazi's and White Supremacists.

if you want to try super hard to not classify him as racist, the best you could do is point out that he ACTIVELY hates poor people, and will go out of his way to fuck them...it just so happens that there are a ton of poor minorities.

He literally says the neo Nazis were bad. How does that keep getting Trumpeted? Pun intended.

Keep on knocking down those strawmen.

Clinton's and Biden's support of the 94 crime bill is and has been a major problem for them. Hilary isn't a queen of racial justice, nobody says she is. Her issues pale in comparison to Trump's.

here is the reality CaelNCSU, this didn't happen that long ago so there is really no excuse for your being misinformed

there was a rally, it was promoted by trump people. it was a white supremacist and neo nazi rally. it was shared and advertised on r/t_d and among right wing twitter. the protest became violent. trump refused to condemn it. politicians posted condemnations, even some republicans, against the bigotry and violence.

finally saturday afternoon trump said:
We ALL must be united & condemn all that hate stands for. There is no place for this kind of violence in America. Lets come together as one!

a bland statement, the white supremacists took it as tacit support and made statements that trump was condemning antifa.

that afternoon a radical white terrorist murdered a protester and attempted to murder many more.

trump responded with another wishy-washy statement, still refusing to clearly condemn the white supremacists and neo nazis. this was at a bill signing for something unrelated (infrastructure week?). he equated both sides, said there was, "hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides. on many sides."

white supremacists liked that response and said it was antifa who is the hatred violent people being called out.

trump was criticized, even from the right

on sunday he had to walk back is statement because of the overwhelming criticism and made the statement you quoted above.

that didn't last long though. the next day at an event at trump tower (infrastructure week again?) he went back to the "both sides" false equivalence and said, "You had some very bad people in that group, but you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides"

this is a man with a long history of racist actions and you are giving him the most generous interpretation and revision of history as if we didn't know who he is

tl;dr stfu you trumpist shit heap

I'm just asking a simple question, which if you read the transcript you'd see it's definitely not what he said. The hostility is epic and reminds me of the same hostility towards Obama on billboards in rural Alabama.

I moved away from NC to the Republican promised land of West Los Angeles and San Francisco. I've been away over eight years, and still remember there are good people in NC. This little exchange makes me rethink.

^^^^ this was TWO years ago. It was clear then and only only amplified by Trump's actions since that he was, at best, trying not to alienate the RW/White Supremacist/Neo-Nazis and at worst offering his implicit endorsement.

The only debate remaining can be: was the support political or was it real? All evidence before and after points to real with positive political side effects. Any attempts to make it some thing else is willful ignorance and blind support of the anti-constitutional/pro racist/pro Nazi stances of this administration.
