Based on a well known indy comic. Lots of fun religious ideas to play with. AMC has been pretty reliable with putting out quality shows

Pilot episode last night was pretty good. I'll be watching.

Preacher was published by DC under their Vertigo imprint. It's as far from an indie comic as you can get.

Anyway. I'm a huge fan of the comic. I don't believe a TV series could capture the spirit of the comic, and having watched the first episode, nothing has changed. The show seems to be on a path to make some huge departures from the comic, and I don't think it will remain true to the story: A man who gains power to rival God's own sets out to make God, who has fled Heaven, take responsibility for the suffering He has caused.

Without picking nits, the fact that the first episode opened with a card saying OUTER SPACE and Genesis flying through space instead of having broken out of its prison in Heaven does not bode well.

I've never read the comic.

And I don't care, because I found the pilot highly entertaining.

shrug. i didnt know it was a comic book. i didnt know my friend was going to turn it on. all i know is that i was quite entertained.

Looking forward to the 3rd episode. Hopefully it keeps trending up, interested to see more of what the preacher can do.

Seems like things are ramping up a bit. First couple episodes have been ok, I'll give it a couple more. I want to like this, but I'm not a fan of the acting by the lead so far.

The opening fight scene in the hotel was pretty great in this last episode, especially when Cassidy showed up.

My enjoyment of the show is hurt by my annoyance with the character of Tulip. Really don't like her.
