Im assuming they'll add more titles later via some type of cloud download.

That would be the best idea.

I'm totally in though, someone stole my original console, and this one should work better.
Plus that isnt a bad price range at all.

Yeah I'd probably get this for say 30~40 but since I have virtually all those games in actual carts, doesn't mean a lot for me.

Think about how much the original system and all those games cost us back in the day...

Great price combined with close to Christmas release combined with parents pretending they're buying this for their kids but really wanting to play themselves = best holiday season for Nintendo in a long time.

I haven't seen anything to indicate network connectivity (or additional storage), but I too hope more games will be available.

I haven't seen anything indicating there will be any expanded storage or anything. I kind of think these are the games Nintendo considers their top 30, or at least top 30 they can get the license to use cheaply.

Now if they do the same thing with the SNES we are definitely gonna need more than 30.

If there was a guarantee that you can install more games I'd bite, so I think I'll pass.

But, we'll see.

There has to already be a thread about this on TWW, right? Video games you never beat w/o codes or the game genie. Off the top of my head: TMNT, Battletoads, and I can't remember if I ever beat River City Ransom.

And you people complaining about not enough games? It has ghosts n' goblins. It would take you guys a year to beat that shit.

Oh and Simon's Quest ftw

Nintendo has been in some kind of fight with whoever owns the rights to Contra...it was never available on Virtual Console either, which is a real shame because it's probably in the top 3 of NES games I would most want to sit down and play randomly

Konami was the developer. Not sure if they're even still around.

If you guys are making fun of me for not knowing Konami I'm well aware that's who made the game.

My point was that I don't know who CURRENTLY owns the rights. As you can see on the above list Super C is available, so clearly there is some disconnect. Since I don't know the exact reason why they have been fighting over Contra I was simply not assuming that Konami has retained the rights all these years.

I have a shirt with the Konami Code on it

No, they are, as always, making fun of me.

But I honestly haven't heard of anything recent from Konami.

Yeah i was def giving rj shit since Metal Gear Solid is such a huge franchise. I don't play any of that Konami shit anymore though. Tis sad Contra didn't make it, but Super C is fine as far as I'm concerned. This is still a great list.

If this ends up without the ability to go online I will be sorely disappointed. Bubble Bobble or Dr. Mario with my friend in Vietnam god dammit. Also these games are missing, in addition to what's already been mentioned:

Blades of Steel
Double Dragon
Duck Tales
Super Sprint

Also wasn't Tecmo Super Bowl the better of those games?

Konami has left the video game business and now only does pachinko machines or some bullshit. (not counting rereleases like this). I'm 99% sure this won't be released with online play.

I would like to have seen more two player games - they couldn't get the rights to T&C Surf Design?

Yea, Contra for sure.

I'd also like to possibly see Eliminator Boat Duel, maybe Pilot Wings.

Blades of Steel was an awesome suggestion

Pretty much....the world of emulation has a good 15-20 years head start on them...seems like the first strategy meeting should have been discussing what they could offer that wasnt already available, such as online play. Instead, it appears the answer to that question was "nothing".
A Retro Pi is also on my to do list.

If I'm not mistaken, Mario Bros is the arcade classic where you fight each other. Super Mario Bros is what everyone would refer to as "mario 1."

Ever play SMB3? You know that minigame you could trigger to fight the other player in that one level with a POW block and enemies? That was Mario Bros

The family guy episode this season with Peter running around as Bo Jackson from the Raiders on Tecmo Bowl was by far the best moment of the whole season for me.

I would consider buying this for my mom, she loved the shit outta some Dr. Mario back in the day while I was in school. And I wish Bomberman was on this system. My cartridge forever fucks up before I can even beat level 5.

They'll still sell a ton of these. And make crazy bank on it. Adding wifi increases cost and wouldn't really increase demand from the casual nostalgic gamer they're probably targeting with this.

Punch out! is really a puzzle game cleverly disguised as a 'sports' game.

The original Mario Bros was a lot like Donkey Kong, or Joust, or Burger Time... I had it on Atari.
