It's not obvious this was a targeted killing of police yet, seems like a mass shooter went looking for trouble, police responded and faced the brunt of the attack.

^^ people have been saying that since trayvon Martin but since then, black lives matter has met with police and policy makers at the Whitehouse, there's been reports on police departments around the nation revealing racism, we're finally tracking statistics on officer involved shootings more, and now when a police shoots an unarmed person, there's almost immediately an investigation opened. Just a few years ago, if a poor black unarmed person got shot, the cops open and shut the case with no chance of repurcussiOns.

And through this time, the decades long downward trend of police shootings has remained.

Progress might seem slow because you're living through this, but there's been enormous progress so far. The last thing that needs to happen is cops like the ones in the John Crawford case or Tamir rice need to be arrested, charged, and spend time in jail.

Baton Rouge has been receiving threats against the police force after the police shooting two weeks ago, and they had a pawn shop burglary where one of the apprehended suspects mentioned their intention was to get in a shootout with the cops. Whether that is just bullshit being fed from the police or reality remains to be seen, but it does lead credence to this being race related.

An associate of mine from back in high school became, as he claimed a Soveirgn Moor, and literally believed that he was a soveirgn citizen. Because of this citizenship status, he literally did not believe that laws in the country applied to him. Anyway, years after I've last talked to his foolish ass, I have heard he did some time behind bars for bank and check fraud.

He was pretty mild in his practice. Some of those soveirgn citizen guys are fucking whacko. The whole movement of soveirgn citizens manifests itself in different ways. It looks like it was an anit government group this time. Things get worse usually when they are armed...

That's because there was a time when we didn't have 24 hour news networks, social networks, and youtube. Everyone acts like crime is so much worse than it used to be. I doubt it though. The difference is it takes just a few seconds to start spreading the news. You no longer have to wait for the morning paper, or the evening news to hear about something.
